1176.0. "Apache Indian" by JURA::PELAZ::MACFADYEN (wrong side of the road) Wed Aug 18 1993 14:29

Anyone know much about this guy, a Birmingham British Indian making ragga
music? (Multi-culturalism starts here.)

I'd sort of caught the edge of one or two tracks on radio and liked them,
saw him on that Beeb 2 program with the chubby girl presenter, read in NME
about his trip to India where's he's become a massive star, so last Saturday
I bought his 'Nuff Vibes' ep, 4 tracks including 'caste system' and
'boom shack-a-lak'. I like it a lot. He's got an authentic rough ragga voice,
but he's managed to make music which is pleasant and fun without losing all
credibility, a neat pop trick, and he isn't sexist or obsessed with guns.

What else has he released?

1176.1Blancmange (Packet) mixWOTVAX::MOOREPI'm On A Snake, And You're On A Ladder....Wed Aug 18 1993 15:5812
I must say I don't really like the one that's currently getting a lot of
air-play, "Boom-shak-a-lak" (too like "Oh Carolina")...

However I do like previous singles "Arranged Marriage" and "Chok There".

On "Chock There" and the latest EP, there are mixes by the West India Company
(Stephen Luscombe from Blancmange).

I've always liked Blancmange (but not the edible variety !)
