I need to get hold of some Russian folk music on tape/vinyl/CD (doesn't
matter which). I have tried local shops which not surprisingly have
provided me with nothing more than a blank stare. I shall be in Reading
this weekend. Can anybody tell me of a record shop in Reading or its
outlying districts that may be able to supply such music?

.. you could try Hickies, in Reading. This is a sheet music/musical instruments/classical Cd/vinyl shop. It is a huge shop with 2 entrances: one is on Queen Victoria Street (which links Friar St with Broad St) the other is on Friar St (opposite the Barclays Bank). I think it has a large music (CD) selection so you may be lucky. Phil - The HMV used to have a large folk section (it may have changed
since I moved up north). ( I can sympathise with trying to find a
decent record shop in Crewe or Warrington).
I have a 10" ep of Ukranian folk music around somewhere if that helps?

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately neither of those shops came
up with the goods. However, I did find success in the Virgin Megastore,
next to the `Butts Centre' (?). They had a good selection of `World
Music' including some Russian stuff on Peter Gabriels RealWorld lable.
