| London Albert Hall April 5th to 8th
Tel 071-589-8212. I'd love to know what he is going to
do before I get a ticket though. Is it going to be Tubular
Bells II or some of his short songs ?

1131.4 | I'm going anyway | WOTVAX::BROWNR | Andy Brown | Fri Mar 26 1993 11:12 | 8 |
| I don't know what he intends to perform but I'm going anyway. The
tickets aren't cheap though, still you only live once and what with the
way I drive I'm not long for this planet...but that's another story.
When I say not cheap I mean 20, 25 and 50 quid.
Cheers

1131.5 | hey hey and away we go | WOTVAX::FIDDLERM | My time in hell is spent with you | Fri Mar 26 1993 14:14 | 6 |
| Gosh...1983 was the last time I saw Mike. I sort of went off him after
Discovery. I'd probably go see him him if he did more than TBII, but
you never can tell with him. now, if he had the full orchestra and was
gonna do Incantations or Ommadawn...

| I saw him in er 1979 when he did the stuff off Exposed (Incantations,
Tubular Bells etc). I didn't like Discovery either. Heaven's Open and
Earth Moving are both far far better and superficially more commercial
(Amarok is still a bit off the wall).

| 1979 - I was there! In fact, you can see the seat I sat in on the
cover of 'Exposed'.

| Must have been the NEC in Birmingham then. You can
see the people that I went with but when the picture
was taken I was half way down the aisle, chucking
paper aeroplanes.

| The new album is now called Voyager and is out on the 26th August.
amongst the stranger song titles I have been made aware of are 'Women
are Violent' and 'Wild Goose Flaps It's Wings'. The traditional song
'She Moves Through the Fair' is also included.

| Mike Oldfield fans, and those looking for ammunition, see....
http://www.ibmpcug.co.uk/~darkstar/preview.htm
for a review of the new album, some rather poor drawings, and a peom so
unintentionally funny I nearly fell of my chair reading it.

| The review was typical Darkstar fluff, but the poem was incredible. I
would like to think that the author was about 10 years old, but I
suspect that he was considerabley older than that. A pant-wettingly bad
poem indeed.

Arthur C. Clarke wrote a novel "The Songs of Distant Earth" which
provided inspiration to Mr Marmite.

| Thanks, I've now entered the competition... and the prize... a copy of
the CD (which I just bought) and a promotional poster, which is
probably of some bloke sitting on a rock, can't seen any marmite
though. :-)
