Hi Tony,
I wish I knew!
Curve are playing at a place called Tivoli tonight - what's it like?
btw, the note in RADIO_RADIO is 595.
Cheers,

| Tivoli is cool, sort of a nice dump, follow the main canal (past
the english pub that does cracking breakfasts on Sunday mornings!),
past the whopping great phallic symbol on yer left (called the Dom),
till ya get to the bridge next to the Cafe Anersom (puff, puff), and
the Tivoli`s on the right hand bank about half way to the next bridge.
Dont be put off by the grotty entrance, its even worse inside!. Good
place to see a gig, if there was someplace like that in Geneva they`d
close it down!.
have a nice one

Unfortunately it wasn't :-(
The place was closed ... I'd got the info from an English language listings
magazine for Amsterdam, but it was wrong. Seems they're not playing there
anytime.
I tried to see Crowded House at the big music centre, but that was sold
out ... so I retired to the Holiday Inn bar :-(

also one of the moderator's recently noted that HYDRA should be
used. I didn't seek out details of this...

Saw Curve at Reading University on Saturday night, after buying the
album last week i was expecting a good concert but it proved to be
better than i thought.
They were backed by Adorable who took some time to get going but
certainly had an attitude, could have done with better use of the PA i
think, but may well be worth looking out for.
On came Curve, songs from Doppleganger and the E.P.s sounding like
a hard slightly gothic Cocteau Twins, of course the highlight was when
Toni Halliday let her hair down.

| Well it's differcult to say what sort of music it was, i only caught
the last half of the set and it grew on me. Basically it's indi dance
music, perhaps a bit more punky, the lead singer looking slightly like
the guy from the Manic Street Preachers, at first i hated him, but by
the end i kind of liked his style. He held the microphone stand in the
air and had it wrapped around his neck. The sound system was crap and
the venue too large for them, in the After Dark club they may have been
a lot better, i'll look out for them.

RE: U.S. tour/waiting
Nothing I have read has hinted at a U.S. planned tour at this time.
I think they're currently on a short stint in the U.K.
As for the waiting it reminds me of some correspondence Mr. Price
(Tim) and I had a while back. He'd mentioned attending a Ride gig
for the 'um-teenth time which furthered my anticipation for their
first tour of the states which did finally happen but at the time
seemed liked forever.
I don't know what all the details are involved in touring abroad
but certainly sales of import releases in the country considered
must be a factor. If the band already has a domestic release
either prior to a tour or released at the same time must indicate
the initial interest is there.
Yes, it can take a long time to see some bands in one country or
another but on the same hand look how long it takes for some locals
or even worse for some regional areas to hear some bands in the
states. I think the ear waves, via radio and clubs, etc. is much
faster in the U.K. due to the structure of radio and size.
In the case of bands that have yet to make much of a dent at home
but yet go on tour abroad and do well I'm not sure but again I would
think more times than not sales of imports had something to do with
the initial consideration to tour abroad not just saying 'hey, lets
spend all this money and see how we do there?' I don't know but like
I think I prefixed this, the key words here are "I don't know."
There's a few bands that I think did crap as far as what they should
have done in terms of success here but abroad they have done far
better - so I hear - Lemmonheads, Titanics, Dino.., etc. I'm curios
how the 360s and Tribe will do.

I'm glad you said that, Stuart. I caught them in the States a few

all of my friends kept calling her a "him", I was afraid to say

| In the interview it said she was loosing interest as the crowd weren't
very "mobile" so she started diving into them and that got them going.
The article also said they are extremley big in the states now - is
this true - I haven't noticed them in the u.s. charts.
p.s.they are playing the tent at Reading and are billed at the same
time as Nirvana - an obvious question but do the bands come on at the
same time meaning I'll miss Curve.Looks like I'll be running back and
forward for three days.

RE: Reading
Although the main stage is not far from the tent it's a challenge to
see two bands with conflicting schedules but possible...If I recall
the posted start times were right on schedule and in general the
overlap might allow you to see a bit of two bands who are on at the
same time.
Last nights 120 Minutes ended with a live clip of a Curve show and
the crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves. I don't know what the
venue was but it looked rather large.
