    Back in Albion for Christmas, I stumbled across a cassette - which I
    subsequently nicked - of an album by a group called The Mock Turtles.
    Good stuff - strong on melody and tons of Beatles and/or Jam influence.
    I think it's their second LP, but that's all I know about them.
    
    Who are they? Where are they from? What have they already released?

	I'm not sure what they have aside from various singles and their full length release "Turtle Soup". They're from Northern Manchester, Middleton to be specific. I referenced an NME from last summer so the second album that they were recording at a studio in the Costwolds (nice country setting - I didn't think there were things like recording studions there) must be completed by now. - Jim

	They released an album called "Two Sides" quite a while ago now.....probably the one mentioned in .-1 Dale.

	The Mock Turtles are on a compilation CD I have of Syd Barrett's songs. I don't recall which cut they contribute, but I do know they are on the CD. (Oh, probably in the Syd Barrett note I listed what track they cover.)

	I got a copy of 'Turtle Soup' from a guy at work and was hooked instantly. I thought 'Two Sides' was a case of releasing an album for the sake of it but good nevertheless... Also saw the band play live at Feile 91. The sound quality was excellent. It was so good, in fact, that I was convinced they must have been using backing tracks. Even so, they were the best act of the day imo. -John.
