955.0. "Cud - Chew Some Today..." by PSYLO::WILSON () Fri Dec 27 1991 17:29

    I can't say I've heard enough by this band to be a fan. but I'd like to
    hear more.

    Dave Gregory (of XTC) produced a few of their songs.

    I didn't know what to expect when I received the "Robinson Crusoe" CD
    EP. You're fairly straightforward, Echo-ish Indie band; not a bad EP
    overall, but I like only the title track and the one after - the other
    two are throwaway "dance" numbers.

    As I say, I'd like to hear more. Like "Hey! Wire!" and
    "Leggy Mambo."

    I bought the Oh No Won't Do EP which is quite good - again the title
    track is excellent and track three good but the other two are boring.

955.2Sunny Jim?PSYLO::WILSONTue Jan 07 1992 16:149
    In "Robinson Crusoe" the lead singer mentions a "Sunny Jim."

    Who does this refer to? I have heard it before in the XTC song, "1000
    Umbrellas."

    Signed,

    Wes (from the U.S.)

955.3Hey! Wire!PSYLO::WILSONTue Mar 10 1992 13:3420
    Finally, two CUD CD-5 singles I ordered showed up in the mail.

    Hey! Wire! and

    Magic

    Both are good. Luckily, there are only two "throwaway" tracks
    on these - a remix of "Magic" and another tune I don't care for.

    But Hey! Wire! and Purple Love Balloon are good songs; very
    1969-1970 ish...pulsating psychedlia...

    I hear Cud has signed with a bigger-name label. They were on the
    imaginary label.

    Oh well, I'll have to tune in my college radio stations to hear
    more....

    	Did Jon Langford (still too early) produce one of them? I read
    	that he was working with them as well as continue with Mekons, etc.

955.5Two Daves, No Jon (or John)PSYLO::WILSONWed Mar 11 1992 12:2910
    Jim,

    I didn't see Jon Langford's name on any of the CD singles I checked
    last night.

    Producers I saw were Dave Gregory, David Creffield, and Cud themselves.
