A new community radio station could be broadcasting in your town
in the run-up to Christmas.

In Reading, CRACKER FM can be found at 100.5 on the fm dial, 24 hours a day,
form Saturday November 30th until Christmas Eve.

There will also be stations broadcasting in Camberley, Basingstoke and Alton,
as well as up to 90 other stations around the UK.

All will be found between 100 and 102 MHz fm.

The local stations have been planned, organised and will be manned by
local young people -- and the aim of Radio Cracker is to raise money to
help the estimated 30 million children worldwide living on the streets.

The money will be raised by advertising AND by payments received for
dedications and requests, etc.

	Anyone heard their local `Cracker' yet? I tuned into mine (Crewe) on Saturday afternoon. Some adolescent was making a terrible job of being a radio presenter: long embarrassing silences, wrong introductions ("this is Chris Rea by Auberge"!), etc. Teething troubles? Phil Gill.

	SOmething was broadcasting ath that frequency this morning when I was driving Sandhurst->Bracknell. The presenter was, to put it charitably, rubbish. Ah well. The music faded before I worked out what it was. - andy

	...his/her presenting was as good as your typing, then. I guess for those of us connected with a 'cracker' project, the fact that it has actually happened and is happening is exciting enough. The standards were never going to be that high -- we don't take it as seriously as your local golden oldies classic fm chart hit after chart hit after banal gibberish chit-chat station. And, in the main, the presenters ARE embarrassed adolescents. Remember when you were 13? Anyway, you've only got to put up with it until Christmas eve... Thanks for the feedback. Terry

	I listened to Radio 1 this morning. Thought the bit about the Search for the Maxwell Millions was quite funny. But then, I'm not an intellectual. (lucky me) Dougie
