940.0. "Best L.P.s of 1991" by XSTACY::NBLEHEIN () Tue Nov 26 1991 14:48

Well since there's a best of singles note and since it's that time of
year ,why not have a best l.p.'s note as well ?
Here's my few pence (gosh I'm so modest) worth:

        "THE MIX" by KRAFTWERK

        "DIAMONDS AND PEARLS" by PRINCE

        "ELECTRONIC" by ELECTRONIC

"THE WHITE ROOM" by THE KLF

"TROMPE le MONDE" by THE PIXIES

        "HOODOO" by ALISON MOYET

        "CHORUS" by ERASURE

        "LOVELESS" by MY BLOODY VALENTINE

"OUT OF TIME " by REM

        " EX-EL" by 808-STATE

The above are in no paticular order. Hopefully they will jog a few
    peoples memories.

    Electronic - Ok.

Sugar Tax - OMD, pretty good, if you like OMD - Hardly revolutionary,

I suppose I had better mention

"Damn Right I've Got The Blues" by Buddy Guy.....

This is by far the best LP that I have which was released in 1991

In fact its the ONLY LP issued in 1991 that I have bought!

Runrig - the big wheel

The Battlefield band - new spring

"Mouth music" by the band of the same name is also excellent - they
combine traditional Scottish and African rhythms and are a big hit
at Womad. This album was released last year though, but I didn't buy
it until this year.

    1) Don't Get Weird On Me Babe - Lloyd Cole

    2) The nem Billy Bragg Album which i can't remember the name of.

    3) Sreamidelica - Primal Scream

940.22RUTILE::MACFADYENStop, look, listen!Tue Dec 03 1991 12:3816
Re .17: You're not meant to list *every* lp, just the ones that you liked,
ok?

These lists are a bit dodgy in that I can only comment on lps I've heard,
and these are more or less only the ones I've bought. That said, I love
the Chapterhouse lp "Whirlpool", have listened to the Slowdive lp a lot,
but I'm a trifle underwhelmed by Electronic. Cope's "Peggy Suicide" is
good, an achievement, yet I don't want to hear it that often. Carter's
"30something" has to be a major lp of 91 but the same criticism might apply.
I'm looking forward to hearing MBV's "Loveless".

Oh yes! Th'Orb's "Adventures"! I've practically worn the tape out, which
only goes to show I that I only really like aural wallpaper.

Ambient house is the easiest way to describe the ORB's music. It's
extremely relaxing to listen to but quite groovey at the same time .It
    knocks spots off Enigma.

they were crap, but then i went to them two days later at Birmingham
institute for my friends birthday and they were absolutely amazing, cos
my friend and i were doing some DJing before they played we had tickets
to the backstage party, had a chat with Billy Gillespie and chatted up
lead singer of Fuzzbox, did'nt get very far though, EMF amf members of
