| Hi there,
I like Crowded House as well and I'm planning to buy the CD.
It is released in Holland for about 4 weeks ago. It's called
"woodface" (I hope I remember that right?)
I heard a few songs on radio already and they sounded very good.
The critics in Holland only give good comments!
Cheerio!

| Re: -1
Every track is excellent pop with outstanding lyrics, with the exception
of the silly "There Goes God" and "Italian Plastic" (what happens when
you let the drummer write one of the songs).
"The excess of fat on your American bones will cushion the impact as you sink
like a stone." - Chocolate Cake
"You can read me like a book that's fallen down between your knees." - Its Only
Natural
Does anyone have the dates for the current UK tour? They were in the Midlands
last week so am hoping they are somewhere south soon.

872.5 | 'Woodface' CD | PSYLO::WILSON | | Mon May 11 1992 18:52 | 9 |
| 'Woodface' really is a good effort; I have a version of this CD which
has several panels that fold out. No jewel box is used. The front cover
is diecut stamped.
Oh, and the CD sounds great, too!
I saw them live in Boston back in September, '91. Good show! They did
three encores.

are in fact Kiwis, or so my rather dippy memory suggests. Someone
please confirm?

872.9 | Crowded House are Kiwis | LARVAE::BEGLEY_M | | Wed May 20 1992 15:55 | 11 |
| Crowded House are indeed all New Zealanders who just happen to reside
in Oz hence they always get called "Australian". Main man of them is
Neil Finn who did indeed use to be in Split Enz along with brother Tim
who briefly appeared in Crowded House but has since departed.
Anyone who likes Split Enz may also be interested in a band called
"Schnell Fenster" who are a vehicle for the talent of Phil Judd,
another ex Split Enzer. He also wrote the music for that recently
released Australian film "Death in Brunswick", starring yet another
famous "Australian" who is in fact a New Zealander, Sam Neill. Also in
that film was a rare sighting of Fred Dagg (aka John Clarke).

| IN LATE RESPONSE TO THE PREVIOUS NOTE :
Ice will melt, water will boil,
You and I, can shake off this mortal coil,
It's bigger than us. You don't have to worry about it.
Ready or not, and here comes the drop,
You feel lucky when you know where you are, you know
It's gonna come true, there in your arms I remember.
Its only natural, that I should want to be there with you,
Its only natural, that you should feel the same way too.
Its easy when you don't try, going on first impressions
Man in a cage, he's made his confession now,
He's seen me at my worst and it won't be the last time I'm there.
I want you to know, I feel completely at ease,
Read me like a book, that's fallen down between your knees, please
Let met have my way with you.
Its only natural, that I should want to be there with you,
Its only natural that you should feel the same way to,
Its circumstantial, its something written in the sky,
That we don't even have to try.
And we'll be shaking like mud,
Building some glass,
Sink in to the Bay,
They'll be under the rocks again,
I don't have to say, I know you're afraid,
Its only natural, that I should want to be there with you,
Its only natural, that you should feel the same way too,
Its only natural,
Its something I was born to,
Its only natural,
I cannot help it if I want to, ooh !
Lyrics recalled after extensive listening to Woodface !!!
BTW, I went to see Crowded House on there recent tour (the one minus
Paul Hester, the drummer), and it was the best live show I have seen
them put on. It was the fourth time of me going to see them, and I was
a bit dubious about how they would overcome losing Paul, but I needn't
have worried, they were fantastic !!! The highlight was the version of
the title track from their latest album, Together Alone, which included
a full Maori choir and Maori drummers. UNREAL !!!
If you've only ever listened to the singles that they've released, but
enjoyed them, then the albums are a must. Neil Finn goes from strength
to strength in his song-writing and they're live performances are
blinding !!!
Ian.

I've heard that a live album of the 91 tour is available on import,
anyone seen it ?

872.13 | Concerts | TRUCKS::MORRIS_D | | Mon Jun 20 1994 15:06 | 20 |
| Yes, according to Q, a 7-track import is available (I assume for a silly price).
Mind you, fools like me who buy their singles (despite having the tracks off
their albums already) now have a whole pile of live tracks at their disposal.
I have seen quite a few "imports" at one of my local shops (which are obviously
boots) at about 15, featuring concerts spanning 1987 onwards.
The one I would love to hear is the promotional 2-CD "Talk of the Town" set.
Also, they have done three in-concerts on R1 (to my knowledge), when my tape
machine accidently burst into life each time...
I read that they have every concert they have played on DAT and that a live
album is "simply" a matter of sorting out the right tracks.
What I love best about them is their unpredictability. On the R1 concert before
the last one, they started the into to Invisible Sun and somehow launched into
"Born on the Bayou"!

| Hi,
According to an article in MOJO Magazine, Neil Finn is wanting to
release an 18 track live album for the beginning of 1995. Like -2, I
have been buying the singles even though I have all the albums and the
version of "Hole in the River" is just superb !!!

872.15 | Latest Single. | SUBURB::RUTHERFORDI | A Comedy of Errors by Jim Leighton | Fri Aug 26 1994 16:23 | 18 |
| Hi again,
Crowded House release their fourth single from the 'Together Alone'
Album on the 5th September. The track is called 'Pineapple Head', and
if memory serves me correct the main lyrics of the song are actually
credited to Neil Finns' son, who was just talking gibberish, and his
dad turned it into a song. Obviously the same inspiration behind The
Police 'DE DOO DOO DOO DE DA DA DA'!!! I am also informed that the band
are going back into the studio later this year to start work on a new
album which the hope to release mid '95.
Watch this space for more news on New Zealands finest !!!
Cheers,
Ian.

872.24 | Latest info.... | CHEFS::RUTHERFORDI | A)bort R)etry F)*** It !! | Tue Oct 10 1995 17:08 | 20 |
| Andrea/Mark,
Finn, (as the band will be called imaginatively !!) have released
their first single, Suffer Never, with the album due for release in 2
weeks time. There is a 2 CD pack, the first of which has demo versions
of two Tim Finn tracks from his album Before & After, Strangeness and
Charm and In Love with it All, aswell as a live version of Four
Seasons in one Day. Crowded House also have a new album out in
November sometime, so it's not the end yet !!
The reason that Paul Hester left was because he wasn't seeing enough
of his family thru all the touring that the band were doing. He still
appears with the band at selected concerts, so hopefully when Crowded
House tour next, he might pop on stage for a couple of songs !!
Cheers,
Ian.

| Andrea,
I bought a copy early last week. It reminds me of the first Crowded
House album. Bear in mind this is just the 2 Finn brothers performing
on the album, and has been advertised as the new album by Finn, NOT by
Crowded House. I'm pretty sure that there will be a new album out from
them in the very near future though.
Did you follow any of that ???
Ah well, the CD's pretty good actually with the 2 singles Suffer Never
and Angel's Heap, but the best track is towards the end of the CD. I
can't remember for the life of me what it is called though. I'll have
a look tonight and post it in here tomorrow morning.
