Ah Ah! Now there's a name from the past.
Actually they had at least 3 hits here in the UK. Their first was a
thing called 'I Remember Summer Morning' or something similar. This was
followed by 'Early in the Morning' and then 'Hitchin a Ride'. Someone
also had a hit at about the same time with an upbeat version of the
standard 'La Mer' but called 'Beyond the Sea'. This could also have
been Vanity Fare. All this took place about 1968/1969.
Someone had a hit a year or so ago with Hitchin a Ride. Who was that?
Bananarama?
Well, thats exhausted my knowledge of Vanity Fare. Did they or their
members go on to any greater things?

| Is this really Vanity Fare or Vanity Fayre. The latter being a band
doing the south coast holiday camps and the like, 60's type music, and
should be playing at the Basingstoke Carnival this year.

Depends how old they look I suppose. They have to be in their early-mid
forties now. It would be interesting to know if they are the one and
the same.

According to something I was reading the other day the name was Vanity
Fair after the book by Thackery(?). Actually I always thought the book
was called Vanity Fayre.
