843.0. "The Yardbirds" by PSYLO::WILSON () Wed May 22 1991 15:52

    Hi,

    I'm wondering if someone in this conference knows what is on a
    Yardbird's CD collection, "Roger the Engineer"?

    I'm looking for a collection that has the later songs, "Little Games,"
    "Over, Under, Sidways, Down," "Shapes of Things," etc.

    Thanks,

    Wes (in the USA)

    	I believe they're all on it but you might want to check note 200
    	in RECORDS (COMET::).

    	Speaking of "Little Games" the UK release that had 6 extra tracks
    	not on the U.S. release was recently reissued.

843.2David Bowie's cover of Shapes of ThingsSOURCE::ZAPPIAdive dive diveThu Apr 09 1992 00:207
	This question could probably be placed in any numbers of places
	but can anyone please tell me where the David Bowie cover of "Shapes
	of Things" is on? I'd also like to know who the guitarist is on it.

	Thanks,
	- Jim
843.3The Pretty Things, along with an ex-Yardbird, Mekon, etc.SOURCE::ZAPPIAdive dive diveThu Apr 09 1992 02:3812
	Extracted from NME 21-Mar-1992 w/o perm...

	"The Pretty Things are working on a new album in Chicago. The line-up
	for the band includes long time lead-singer Phil May, as well as former
	Mekons guitarist Dick Taylor, ex-Yardbird Jimmy McCarthy and ex-Canned
	Heat bass player Richard Hite..."

	If anyone cares besides...

         "Shapes of things" Bowie style is on "Pin-ups".I'm not sure who
    the guitarist was but I believe it may still have been Mick Ronson.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        Jim, Bowie's version appears on his 1973 album of cover versions,
        "Pin Ups", and the featured guitarist is none other than the
        illustrious ex-Spider_From_Mars, Mick Ronson (aka 'Ronno').
