It was B-side of one of the singles from "Born in the USA"

| re. .0
'Echoes' on side 2 of 'Meddle' is regarded by many ( incl me ) as being
what Pink Floyd were all about. It's the twee songs on side 1 which are
rubbish....'One of these days' excepted.
I never cared as much for the post 'Atom heart mother' albums.

Re .2
I'd agree with you, "Echoes" is definitely the one...actually, on their
last tour (Momentary Lapse...) they use to start the gig off with this
track, but after about 10 shows they replaced it with "Shine on...".
I still think it would have a made a great encore...
Incudently, most of my bootleg CDs of Floyd are pre-dark side, there's
so much stuff about, some of it even of good quality !!

| You jest, surely. They didn't make _any_ good quality recordings;
they're all twaddle, A sides and B sides both. Sorry, which band are we
talking about?

On my copy of Soulmining, the last track on the B side is Uncertain
Smile.
I agree, though, an excellent B side, and IMO it far surpasses the A
side.

proportion of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry etc records
were double A sides.
In them days, yer got value for yer 2/6d.

The tape version of "Soul mining" has six additional tracks ,which are
(to say the very least) completely at odds with the "normal" album
tracks.
"Low" by Bowie is another good example of going from a "normal" A side
to complete weirdness by flipping the disc i seem to remember.
Also "scary monsters" A side is BRILLIANT then loses it all on the B
side. There must be more that a cannot remember at present that are not
Bowie albums.

The B side of Bowie's "Low" ( or was it (Nick) Lowe's "Bowi" :-) )
get's my vote over the A Side anyday. Just the sort of stuff you'd
imagine would be piped into padded cells at mental hospitals.

| Also my copy of The Cure's "Faith"(i think?) has a soundtrack on it
called "Carnage visors"(dont know what it is the soundtrack to but it
must be bloody strange given the noise/music on the B side)

b-side of "Curiosities", this set of live material is culled from Robert
Smith's personal collection.

B-side lovers,
For all lovers of legendary B-sides, I recommend 'The Buzzocks'
and 'The Undertones', who both produced a series of unequalled
B-sides (better than the A-sides) in the early 80's.
They are - I think - all available on LPs.

| Another good B-side is the 1966 hit by Napoleon XIV, "They're coming to
take me away, Ha-haa!!".
The title of the flip?
"!!aah-aH ,yawa em ekat ot gnimoc er'yeht" by VIX noelopaN.
What!! Exactly, the entire record backwards. Mind bending stuff.

| Ah yes, 1966, the year of our World Cup triumph, Aberfan, and the
Beatles' 'Paperback Writer', with it's mighty B-side 'Rain', which was
later covered by Bob (the band) on their 'Stride Up' ep, and pretty
well they do it too.

The B Side of Scott McKenzie's 'San Francisco (Be sure to wear some
flowers in your hair)' was a great song called 'What's the Difference'.
Could have become a folk-rock classic if it it been released by someone
else! I can almost hear a jangly Byrds version in my mind.
I have an LP by Scott M and San Francisco is about the only thing he
sings in tune! In fact I've often wondered whether he actually sang on
this track.
