| They haven't put an LP out yet, just one single (possibly 2) as to what
they sound like I can't really help as I've only heard snatches on the
chart show.

| They have released (at least) two singles on indie label Dedicated
entitled 'Inescapable' and 'Espero'. Sound very much like early Dead
Can Dance.

| Thanks Christophe,
Just what I want to hear, Ill now try to find a record store which has
them in stock.
Obviously liking this 'type' of music can be somewhat limiting with
regards to choice etc, plus its very difficult to hear new bands etc
without expensive experimenting as Radio is very limited except John
Peel, whos airtime is becoming less and less as the months go by.
Any other bands who you can suggest that I should try to hear ??
Cheers

795.4 | Sounds good to me.. | MIACT::RANKINE | | Mon Jan 28 1991 15:26 | 11 |
| Well I managed to get the 'Espero' 12" single at the weekend, and I
like it. They sound a bit like early Dead Can Dance, as stated earlier,
but with a Clare Grogan (Altered Images) sound-alike as a vocalist,
which took a bit of getting used to. It was good eenuff to want to get
their other 12" single.
Always willing to try new bands who release material that is in this
vein, if anyone can give any advice/info.
Cheers
Paul

| Saw the Cranes on Friday when the supported the Cure at the Edinburgh
Playhouse, Wasn't very impressed with them, You could hardly hear her
sing apart from the odd Screech or two, They might sound OK on disk but
live they are pretty crap, They only played about 4 songs which was
quite enough.. *:@). The Cure were excellent but thats another story.

Yeah, I cant deny that theyre not particularly devastating
live....someone described them as sounding like a kitten in a shoe box.
However the big news is that the Cranes new CD/LP called 'Forever' has
now been released and is excellent. More melodic and less patchy than
the 1st LP and has been relatively weel received by the UK music press.
They were featured in last weeks MM and stated that supporting the Cure
did them a lot of good. They appeared to have 'lightened up' and the
new music reflects this. The Cures Mr Smith will be re-mixing some of
the LP tracks for a new single, due out soon.

coming out?

| Stuart,
I read that Slowdive have a new CD/Ep released soon, followed by a LP
to co-incide with the tour. Should be a good bill, but no venues near
me Im afraid.

| Yes I'm looking forward to seeing Slowdive they could be quite
excellent - though they couldn't get as good as the Cocteaus,
have you seen Slowdive live?
