I haven't heard the latest album, but I've got the first two. The debut album,
just called The Lilac Time', was pretty good. Very folky, with a couple of
really good tracks on it. The single, `Return to Yesterday' shoudl have been a
hit, but sadly wasn't. The second album `Paradise Circus' was really rubbish
(all personal opinions folks!) and it kind of put me off following their career
at all.
etc etc etc...

| Wow!
That's all I can say after finally hearing "Astronauts" this weekend.
A fine effort from Stephen Duffy et al.
I had to order this CD from overseas since it was not released in the
U.S. (It's kind of ironic that it wasn't, since it includes taped
recordings of American astronauts and mission control.)
A very gentle album: with the exception of 'Dreaming' (which sounds a
bit like the band Electronic), it's acoustic guitars, vocal(s) and
keyboards and keyboard programming.
I immediately liked half the CD, and a few tunes that seemed
so-so when I first heard them are now growing on me.
Top cuts:
Inverness Gardens
Hats Off, Here Comes the Girl (this should be a single)
Sunshine Girl
Grey Skies and Work Days
North Kensington
Oh - this album is by far the best recorded of all of The Lilac Time -
sounds like a DDD recording to me, but since my disc is from Japan,
there is no code.
I don't like it as much as "And Love for All," but in its own way, it's
better than that in its consistency.
