Does anyone remember Long John Baldry ? I believe he started off in life on a group called Steam Packet which in its time had elton John, Rod Stewart, Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll and probably a few other well known names as members of the group. Last heard of LJB was in Canada. I remember him releasing as a single, his last ??, a vocal version of the Mexico Olympic anthem. Last Saturday I was watching the kids cartoons on Saturday morning T.V. - well I watch Trans World Sport first and flip over. The credits of this particular cartoon gave as one of the voices used Long John Baldry. I'm assuming it to be one and the same person. Rich

Yep, I remember him. He had a good blues voice, but decided to sell out and do the cabaret circuit with stuff like 'Let the Heartaches Begin', his only hit single. Bob | |||||

Yes I remember him too. Met him once at a folk club I used to inhabit in Chigwell in Essex back in the 60s. He did indeed have agreat blues voice and I see in my memory playing some nice acoustic blues guitar. Wasn't he about 6ft 6in with blond hair. Andy ( as old as I feel sometimes :-) ) |
