My brother manages a band in Southampton and at the last minutes they
have been asked to do a gig at Mr Bumbles in Blackwater (near
Camberley) this Saturday evening (July 14th). The person that usually
does their sound has had a nervous breakdown (nothing to do with their
music!) and they desperately need to hire sound equipment from the
Camberley area.
Does anyone know of any hire places in the area? They are looking
for an 800-1000 Watt PA, and speakers, and preferably someone to
set it up and do the mixing on the night.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Cheers.....Alison

County Sound have a subsidiary that does PA equipment... I can't
remember the name for definate, possibly Squire or something like
that. Give County Sound a ring for details (0483 740066 -
switchboard)... I'm sure they can help.
James.

James,
Thanks for your reply and the mail message. I've passed the number
to my brother and he'll check it out. I didn't realise County Sound
had any subsidiaries, let alone one for sound equipment.
I'll let you know what happens.
Cheers...Alison

| 702.3 | Update | SEDOAS::NEALE | Alison Neale | Thu Jul 12 1990 11:40 | 18 |
Well here's an update, as promised.
They have managed to get a 1.2KW rig from a place in London (BEVO
on 081 641 7282). It's a bit expensive, but if the first gig goes
well and they get asked back they can shop around for something
cheaper.
Simon tried County Sound and they do hire out PAs but their systems are
more geared up for discos and don't have enough inputs for a band.
Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.
So...they're all geared up for Saturday night. If anyone's in the
area their name is Koala Park (if the name sounds like it was thought
up by a 3 year-old, that's because is was!) and they're well worth
a visit - in my biased opinion!
Cheers....Alison

What sort of stuff do they play? Ian. | |||||

They do about 30% their own songs, and the rest are covers. The covers
include a couple from Fine Young Cannibals, Eurythmics, and Alison
Moyet. I can't remember the rest! The band consists of keyboards,
drums, bass guitar, sax, electric acoustic guitar (?) and vocals.
Most of the music is quite lively and I suppose it would be classified
as rock, but it's difficult to say that they sound like any particular
well-known group. If you get to see them I would be interested in
hearing what you think of them!
Cheers....Alison
