676.0. "Glastonbury '90" by YUPPY::OHAGANB (Dip the fuse in the kerosene) Wed May 16 1990 15:32

    Roll on June. Apart from 4 glorious weeks of World Cup football,
    half a million Irish World Cup songs and the New Order England
    perm mix, they'll be another Glastonbury bash thanks to Michael
    Eavis and co.

    The line up so far includes The Neville Bros, Happy Mondays,
    Sinead O'connor, Green On Red, Deacon Blue, Del Amitri, Ry Cooder
    & David Lindley, Aswad and The Cure who seem to have come out of
    live retirement for this one. I think most of the compering will
    be in the hands of Andy Kershaw; Alexi Sayle has'nt been mentioned
    ( pity as I enjoyed the lobsters and Springsteen gags from last
    year ). No Grateful Dead and, sadly, still no sign of Robert Cray.

    As for all the other attractions, the Green Field has been expanded;
    no doubt I'll end up in the Homeopathic Medicine Tent this year
    with sun-stroke as I did last year. Something resembling a wizard
    spent some time perusing a herbal remedy tome and asking me my drug
    in take for the week-end. After all that I recieved a few nitra-
    glycerine tablets probably straight out of a Beechams laboratory in
    Brentwood.

    Plus the Circus tent, Comedy and Poetry, the kid's area ( I've got
    to get on that huge inflatable castle this year ), and maybe a few
    hundred acid 'ouse raves; although I imagine Eavis will try and
    curb them in order to keep good relations with the local constabulary.

    Let's just hope the weather's as good as last year and that they
    an improve the toilet facilities which my wife keeps complaining
    about. Still it could be worse = Reading and Knebworth.

    Barry.

    I would be worth it just to hear Ry Cooder and David Lindley...
676.2Anybody know about Glastonbury dates?ESASE0::SOCONNORFri May 25 1990 14:297
Can anyone fill in in more details about dates etc.? Or a pointer to same, have
I missed adverts in mags ? Is it usually at or around a particular date ?

Just that I'm thinking of trekking across for it this year.

Thanks
Stephen
676.3Which way to Glastonbury?ESASE0::SOCONNORMon May 28 1990 09:506
Okay I know the dates now...
But, can somebody tell me how difficult/easy it is to get to the place?
I'll probably be heading from London,

Thanks
Stephen
