| I don't know about the North, but what you are looking for are few and far
between in the South. I've never heard of any Record Fayres here, and only in
Dublin have I seen any out-of-the-ordinary record shops.
Right now the only one I know of is Comet Records in Crown Alley
(behind the Central Bank [big ugly modern building on Dame Street],
which is 100 metres from the front of Trinity College). It has mostly
secondhand and indie stuff of one kind or another. I haven't been in
Dublin much lately, so apart from that, I really don't know.
(Anyone know if Freebird moved or closed down?)

| Dave,
Don't know about record fairs, sorry.
As for records in Galway....
there is a second hand shop that occasionally has music bargains, off
Abbeygate Street, not great but the odd bargain. But you'll have to search
through an awful lot of utter dross to get it, I've bought a few tapes there so
far. That's it for Galway outside the Golden Discs etc.
Comet Records in Dublin that Pat mentioned is fairly good, also in Dublin is
Freebird ( if it's still open, it WAS near O'Connell Bridge )
A really great shop for hard to find world music/folk/country stuff is Claddagh
Records just around the corner from Comet records in Dublin. It's advertised a
lot on Century Radio, if you can find Comet ask for directions there, it's
awkward to find. I think there may be another shop in that Temple Bar area of
Dublin also, can't remember exactly.....
Outside of that I don't know, you've obviously realised how bad/expensive
record shops in Galway are, though occassionally the taste lag in Galway can
mean the odd bargain LP while it's still full price in Dublin.
