660.1 | The Orb and more of the new 90's dance trance... | JGO::KWIKKEL | The dance music library 1969-20.. | Thu Apr 26 1990 16:55 | 32 |
| Yes Mike,I have a standard 12" of them.
What I'm interested in is that you mentioned that there is a
John Peel session version of 20mins of it,is that one available?
This tend to be a trend setting dance sound for the '90's.
Here are more tunes that you might be interested in(and you other
readers)
A club in Germany(Frankfurt) located under the Frankfurt airport
called "Dorian Gray" is the base for a fantastic DJ/producer
named Torsten Fenslau,he is hot playing this kind of music up there.
Here the titles:
The Orb:Loving you/Huge ever growing
Klankwerk:Kybernauten *
Out of the ordinary:The dream/Play it again sam *
B-sides:Reforced/Electrain
Age of chance:Times up
Cabanban:I can't decide
Ideas 4 imitators:Der Komtur *
The rythm section:Laser nation
D-shake:Yaaaah
3 times 6:You can run
Innocence:Natural things
Culturebeat:Der erdbeermund(cherry lips) *
Off:La casa Latina
Some of these tunes are produced by Torsten himself (with *)
Torsten can be compared with what Paul Oakenfold does in the U.K.

| Someone knows what I'm on about!!!
What Orb track do you have? The Peel session was recorded off the
radio (Loving You), and is not commercially available. Have You got
the track called "Pulsating green brain controls the Inner Mind", or
somesuch. Is loving You available on vinyl?
I have asked in REcord shops over hers, only to be met with blank
looks.
To the Mikemobile!!

| err...whats the single called... The ever pulsating brain that rules
from the left centre of the Ultraworld. Basically, its the Loving You
thingy. I really like the single, tho its nowhere near as good as the
Peel session version.
The A side must last for 15+ minutes, and has lot sof nice synthesisery
rythmns and stuff. Nothing drastically new, but good to listen to in
the car. B side is not very interesting. I picked up the original mix
for 1.99 in Our Price in Reading, hven't heard the remix.
Can't really imagine dancing to it, tho.

Paul, it's called "Live '93" and in vinyl form is actually a Quadruple
album ! I got it for Christmas but haven't heard it all yet. What I
have listened to is good, just turn off the lights, turn up the volume
and imagine the light-show!
When the NME reviewed it they said the Orb were in danger of becoming
the next generation Grateful Dead by becoming too self indulgent, and
making tracks that were too long and boring... I might be missing
something here but, as the 'Dead are the biggest Live act in the world
- playing more shows each year than any other major band - and having
been around for longer than all but Cliff Richard and the Stones; I'd
have thought it was quite a compliment !!

| The price of the vinyl is the same as or, in some cases, greater than
the CD.
Dave - a confirmed vinyl-ite.

660.10 | A little fluffy cloud in the sky | JURA::PELAZ::MACFADYEN | who has hidden the agenda? | Fri Jan 07 1994 10:11 | 10 |
| My sister has a huge investment in DAT equipment, all so that she can listen
to endless tapes of Grateful Dead live shows made by computer people with too
much time and too little imagination. I would *hate* for the Orb to become
anything like the Dead. But sadly I agreed with the NME's assessment of the
Orb, they are becoming far too self-indulgent and their track on the Trance
Europe Express compilation is the worst track on that otherwise excellent
record.
