646.0. "Jacques Dutronc..where is he now?" by SYSTMX::BROWNE () Wed Apr 04 1990 22:48

This is really dating myself, but I came across an old 45 from the mid
sixties called "Et moi et moi et moi" by Jacques Dutronc...yes it was
French and it was a big hit in Europe at that time. I was in the U.S.
Army in Germany when it was popular and bought it then.
Upon playing it,I was shocked to discover that it was about 25 years
ahead of its time in that it sort of sounds like a '80s sound long
before there was the 80's ..has a heavy bass beat. Does anyone know who
he was and does anyone remember this record (a lost 45 if there ever
was one)...if it was on CD and cleaned up...it sounds to me like it
    could be re-released...

He is one of the most famous french singers and had a couple of big
hits in the 60's, including "Et moi, et moi, et moi", "On nous cache
tout, on nous dit rien", "Les playboys" which combined great music and
very cynical but humourous lyrics. Most of this although have the sound
of these times (tambourines, "garage" guitars) but IMO that makes it
even better. Nowadays he progressively stops music and begins an
acting career (well, in fact his first movie was in the end of the
    70's).

All his most popular songs can be found on several compilation LPs; the
most recent ones can be easily found here in France (of course, on
    LP/CD/K7).

    Christophe.

"On nous cache tout, on nous dit rien
On nous informe vraiment sur rien
Plus on apprend, plus on ne sait rien
     L'affaire Trucmuche et l'affaire Machin
Dont on ne connat jamais l'assassin
On nous cache tout, on nous dit rien
On nous cache tout, on nous dit rien
     On nous cache-cache et cache-tampon
     Colin-maillard et Tartampion
Ce sont les rois de l'information."

Hope you understand French, cause that cannot be translated without
    ruining it.
