| Clarke was one of the well known "jazz" bass playes when fusion was
popular in the early-mid 70's. I believe his first big group was
Return To Forever with Chic Corea, Al diemola (he plays so fast i cant
spell his name) and maybe Lenny White (?) on drums. I dont know how
the album you have sounds, but in those earlier groups, he brought bass
to the forefront with his great technique. My favorite solo album by
him is his first one, i think its just called "Stanley Clark" its got
a great tune on there called Vulcan Princess. If you like the fast
fusion stuff, check out Romantic Warrior by Return To Forever. Tony
Williams (a great) plays drums on that one.
Now, Clarke is in a group called Animal Logic with Stewart Copland and
someone else i havent heard of.

| 'Schooldays' has a great catchy riff in it. The album is worth it for
that tune alone.

| He had another great song called "Rock and Roll Jelly" which featured Jeff
Beck on guitar. I forget which album its off of. Stanley is an incredibly
talented bass player, but I was never one for bass solos, or even songs
revolving around bass soloists. I think he worked better in the context of a
band, ala Return To Forever.
