On the strength of many many reports of Bobby Brown being the most crucial person alive, I bought a record of his. Unfortunately, I accidentally bought the 'Dancing' remix collection. I think beneath the banal sampled stuttering there is some good stuff -- I'll swap the record for a 'real' album asap. Why do they ruin good tunes by resampling and stretching a great 3 minute idea into an orgy of hi-tech overproduction? I suspect it's the record company cashing in while the hype is alive. Anyway, I was surprised there wansn't a topic on this bloke. So now there is. Richard.

O.k., I admit it - I do like some of his music. Of course, I've only heard "some" of his music. But that's not why I replied. I have a friend who used to be the Security Director for one of the more high class hotels in Boston. Anyway's, Bobby Brown was staying there while he was in town (he had a whole floor), and he was "throwing' a party - very loud and disrupting otther guest's staying there. It was my friends enviable(sp) task of asking Mr. Brown to please keep it down (after all it was three o'clock in the morning). So my friend say's "could you please keep it down" and the such. Bobby Brown turns to look him directly in the eye (which meant he was looking up - my friends 6'2") and says "Don't you know WHO I AM - I'M BOBBY BROWN!". So, my friend looked at him and said " big deal - you still gotta turn the music down". Mr. Brown was a bit more than tiffed from what my friend said - but he did turn the music down. Steve S. |
