540.1 | Not an answer, but another question | FORTY2::ETHERIDGE | The Pig Ferret | Thu Nov 23 1989 16:14 | 9 |
| Sorry, this isnt an answer, but I've been wondering a similar sort of thing
about the music for the Renault 21 ad. The one where they get the design wrong
so they rub bits out and redraw them.
The music is a mixture of thickly 'thumbed' bass and classical and synthy stuff.
Any offers?
Ian.

540.2 | "That" music is..... | YUPPY::WILDERD | The Wild Thing | Thu Nov 23 1989 16:28 | 10 |
| Ian,
the music in question is 'The house of the blue danube'
by Malcolm Maclaren. It's off the 'Waltz Darling' album, which ,I
think, is brilliant .If you like this track your'e sure to like
the rest!

I was interested in what the Paxo music was as well as Mr. Base-noter.
A friend of mine said that it was sung by Louis Armstrong. Hmmm,
doesn't sound a whole lot like him in my opinion but apparently it was
his `early stuff'. May be worth having a look at some of his records
to try and find it.
Don'tcha hate the way we're being sold like this into buying these
records?

Actually the base noter was a definitely a female (the name Sarah is a
dead give away).
I'm quite curious as to the Paxo music identity as well.
Hi Sarah !! - great to see you making use to NOTES in your spare(ish)
time.

Currently playing at the Cambridge theatre in London is "Return to the
Forbidden Planet". Based on the 1956 Sci-fi film of the same name
(*which* was based Shakespeare's The Tempest), it is a mixture of
quotations from his various plays, with rock and roll classics being
sung at the slightest provocation. A great evening of music and fun!!
Anyway ... that leads me into this question. I would like the artist's
name of a particular song. All I can do is "sing" a few words to help
prompt an answer hopefully.
Here goes (no laughing please):
We've already said ... goodbye ...
If you're got to go, girl you had better go now,
Go now, go now ... before you break my heart ....

| Re .6.... that song is "Go Now" by the Moody Blues.... so I
suppose the singer is Denny Laine?.... Its not
Justin Hayward anyway..... This was one of their first
(if not their first) hits, before they really got going..
'65 ish I suppose.

| No, but I've got it on CD and you can borrow it if you wish (contact
by mail if interested). If I get an answer to my question in 542, you
could try there to buy a copy.

I have a copy (well my sister has it), but sorry I don't want to
sell it.....(I can remember the day I bought it and took it home
to play on Dad's radiogram!)....
Chris, have you tried Timebeat Records in Basingstoke.... if I
get the chance I will pop in this week and ask....

540.13 | Their range is extensive, prices expensive.... | AYOV18::DROBB | More paranoid than a President | Thu Nov 30 1989 10:07 | 17 |
| Yes, Sue - Adrians Records are *still* just about the best place
to try for an oldie, even if their prices are sometimes a bit steep.
I'd fully expect them to have GO NOW in some format or other, and
would highly recommend their catalogue as an excellent reference
document - the number of times I've used in to answer questions
in here is, to paraphrase Dan Maskell, "quite extraordinary". 8-)
You can order their catalogue on your credit card, by phone (0268
733318/9) - it costs thirty bob, but is *well* worth it.
There's also another excellent oldies mob called 'Oldies Unlimited',
who are based in Telford, Shropshire....I think someone asked about
them quite recently in here. Anyway, I can't recall their full
address/phone no. at the moment, but I'll try to input it sometime
soon.
