Hi John,
I got my ticket for The 4 of Us over the weekend. They're playing
in Seapoint, Galway on the 30th. Doors at 8. I expect that they're
currently gigging around, so if you pop into a Discs they should be able
to tell you if they're playing anywhere closer to KLO.
-Brian.
P.S. How's Hanna(h)? ;-)

GIGFLASH: The 4 of Us are playin' in Carrickmacross Co. Monaghan
on Saturday the 23rd of December.
Guaranteed to be the gig to beat all gigs..I'll be there of course.
Watch this space..and DO buy 'Songs for the tempted' if you want to
know what the Irish Music scene is currently producing in the line
of fantastic soul-gripping, ego-creating, trend-setting music!!

| You're both right (!) and spot on! I bought "Songs For The Tempted" in
Limerick and it's v v good. I liked "Mary" - I've only listened to it
once. And then I went and lost it...typical of me...ask Sue Chilton...
she would know about this trait.
I also bought the debut by The Black Velvet Band and it's also quite
good. (Do we have a note on them yet ?? And where are they from ?
Wexford ? Maybe that's Cry Before Dawn...)
Tuesday Blue ? Limerick band...haven't heard them as I'm usually away
from Eire.

| I saw The 4 of us at London's Marquee last night. A very enjoyable gig.
I found the live versions much more clipped and funky than the album
tracks.
The encore was Lou Reed's "Busload of Faith" incidentally.
Here's hoping they go a long way.

524.6 | what's happening? | UPROAR::PLOWMAND | everything you know is wrong | Fri Mar 12 1993 11:57 | 8 |
| This topic's been rather quiet for a while - their latest single "She
Hits Me" is getting a lot of radio play, it's brilliant!
Anyone know what they're current album's called (I presume they've done
at least one more since "Songs for the Tempted"...?

Latest album is called "Man Alive",which includes the latest single. The
album is pretty good, but I'm having difficulty in getting hold of
"Songs for the Tempted".
As for tour news,.....they played King Tut's in Glasgow a few weeks
ago,and they are also touring with the Jeff Healey band in March/April.
According to Brendan, they are also playing at The Fleadh at Glasgow
Green in June some time.

| Thanks. I bought "Man Alive" at the weekend and I LOVE it! It's not
often you really like an album on first hearing, but this was one of
those occasions. I can't help hearing a) early Stones influence and b)
Squeeze-like vocals on some tracks (e.g. Baby Jesus).
Highly recommended.

Last Thursday, I went to see The Jeff Healey Band in concert, not
knowing who was supporting them.
4 Of Us were excellent and certainly got the stilted, German crowd
going, which is quite a feat. I was impressed and will certainly look
for 'Man Alive' next time I visit the big city.
Cheers,
Mark.
(PS Jeff Healey were pretty good as well but onfortunately, we had to
bugger off before the end to take over from the babysitter.)
