| I have always assumed the latter; he is, but doesn't want to
admit it, and offers loads of excuses. eg... I've hung your
picture on the wall, it hides a nasty stain.....

| A criticism I've often heard of 10cc is that they have stolen
music/riffs/chord sequences etc. The very distinctive chord progression
of I'm Not In Love is supposed to have been lifted from something
else as is the keyboard opening of I'm Mandy Fly Me (which is repeated
throughout).
I remember buying The Original Soundtrack when released. The very
last track is a thing called The Film of My Life and I KNOW this
melody is lifted from somewhere but I've never bean able to place
it. It has a 50s Matt Munro feel to it and I'm sure someone of that
style had a record with the same melody.
However, I do like their music.

I know Matt Monro is as close to 10CC as jason donovan is to
Nat King Cole but did he sing "On days like these"? Please.
'We' need to know.

| Sorry if my note gave the impression I'm a Matt Munro fan! I just
guess I got subjected to that sort of music in the 50's and some
of its rubbed off. The only tunes I could identify MM with are Born
Free and From Russia with Love!

| I know just what you mean Richard. 'Original Soundtrack' is a great
album and 'Film of my Love' does sound like it came from somewhere
else. Maybe it was meant to.

I'm surprised to find nothing about 10CC's latest CD in here?
'Meanwhile' from 1992 is one of their best ever, if not the
best (IMO). It has the advantage of a perfect recording quali-
ty, compared to the older ones. Someone would insist on this
is not the 'real' 10CC, but at least all four of them are sing-
ing - I don't think this has happened since 'How Dare You!'..
On this one, Freddy Washington is playing 5-string bass and
Michael Landau is doing some sublime guitar work. Most of the
songs are quiet, well-balanced and if you give it a close lis-
ten, extremely well put together. The chord changes are typical
unexpectet 10CC-like, a sort of strange composing which still
sound natural, they keep growing on me...
For old 10CC fans: give it a try, I don't think you'll get dis-
appointed!
