467.0. "HELP! Why do you have to go out with him?" by BAHTAT::STURROCK (Times tide will smother me...) Wed Aug 02 1989 12:48

Months ago now I heard an indie pop type song with the central lyrics:

'Why do you have to go out with him, when you could could out with
    me?'

I've been trying to find out which group and where I can find a
copy ever since, but no luck....HELP!

Can anyone help me - the song I am looking for and the only line
    I can remember is

"This is the end of the world as we know it, "

And seems to repeat a couple of times as the chorus.

    Thanks...

Sounds like a line of a track from an album I bought on Saturday.

The album is the utterly brilliant Document by R.E.M., and the track is
    called something like

This is the end of the world as we know it (I feel fine)

Well something like that. I haven't looked at the track listing.

brilliant! (though not as good as murmur), pity we have
    	longer personal names!

    re .5

Totally agree; I bought Document, and love side one, but feel side
two loses direction slightly, but Murmur is a different story entirely.
A truly wonderful record that is rarely far away from my deck.
