463.0. "THE BIG DISH" by AYOV18::MCRAWFORD () Tue Jul 18 1989 12:06

Is anyone else interested in THE BIG DISH. I'm a big fan after seeing
them in glasgow at the poll tax concert.

Yeah they are OK, I've never actually seen them live but have the
albums ... the Swimmer is great but didn't like Creeping too much.
At my last job a friend was in a local band and they supported the
Big Dish at Galashiels around Feb 89 ... he loves them though.

I made a friend in the States by the album (only $6.99 on cd) and
he had mixed feeling about them ... OK he thought it was crap! I
offered to take it off his hands for $5 and he refused so he must
like them a little bit (or is he just a meanie!)

I hear Virgin kicked them off their label when they had a purge
of their bands earlier this year, but they have signed up with someone
with better taste now. I believe they should have the same success
as Hue and Cry and the Wetties but haven't had the breaks yet!

Don't believe it. Stuart does'nt have any friends.
Somebody tells him he looks like Morressey and it goes
    right to his head.........

The Big Dish kinda remind me of a cross between Loyd Cole and
The Railway Children both in a much more mello mood. To laid back
for me. If I need a nap I'll just pop in Love and Money.
Great picture of a tropical fish on the cover though.....

Stuart if I give you this Disc will you go back home early?
463.3If this was Ed there'd be a lot more backgroundESKIMO::POTTERShe gives good headacheWed Jul 19 1989 16:5711

No!, Morrisey looks like me ...

OK, The Big Dish aren't Jim's cup of tea ... yet he still refuses
my $5 ... hey! maybe I'm gonna get it for nothing ... a late birthday
    pressie?

The reason he doesn't care too much for this disk was because they
don't sound anything like his other fave Scottish Band ... Wet Wet
    Wet.

I've seen The Big Dish twice first supporting Lloyd Cole at the
SEC in Glasgow in Dec 1985,and at Glasgow School of Art last year.I
thought "Slide" was one of the best singles of 1986.
They have recently been signed up
by WEA,and they reckon that they can get them into the charts. The
lads are at present writing material for a new album.
                                         Cheers
                                              Gerry

Well I've been a fan for a number of years now and I thought I really
liked Swimmer but when I heard Creepin'... I was "dead impressed".
A definatly more experienced sounding band now.

Bloody hell, they've only been going for 5 minutes.

Music was ok, but live they were a dead loss, the bass player
    	had nice legs though.
