Ireland's Radio_2 recently have been playing a single by a guy called Peter Case(?) on one of its night time shows. The song is titled "Travelling Light" and it's from an album called "Blue Guitar"(?). The tune is great...gotta a sorta 'Cajun meets John Fogarty' feel to it!!!. I've never heard of him before and it would appear that the DJ hasn't either...so can any of you fellow noters give me any more info...like who is this guy...is he American ...anybody have the album...is the rest of the album typical of the single(if so I'll buy it pronto)...is it his first album or are there others???????? I'll post something along the same lines in MUSIC and RECORDS at a later stage...just thought I'd bounce it off the *locals* first and see what comes up!!! ThanX in AdvanX - Dave K.

In a past Frets magazine, there was a feature on singer/guitarist performers - such as Paul Simon, John Hiatt etc. Pete Case was also featured. If you send me your mail stop, I will photocopy the article and send it to you. PS for those concerned abaout copyright - as FRETS has now died, I assume it is ok to photocopy an old article without upsettinging anybody :-) andy | |||||

I don't know too much about Peter Case, but here's a little info: He was originally in a band called the Plimsouls. I believe they are from San Francisco, CA. They had a small hit with a song called "Million Miles Away" about 4-5 years ago (maybe a little longer?). The Plimsouls were also featured in the movie "The Hunger", if I remeber correctly (the movie that has David Bowie as a vampire) - they are the band playing in the club scene. Peter Case has (I think) two (hmmm - maybe its three now, since one just came out a few weeks ago) solo albums out in the US, on Geffen Records. He's a real critic's darling, always making the Top 10 of the year lists, but never getting any airplay on radio or sales. Hope that helps a little bit.... Alan S. |
