437.0. "Factory Numbers" by 45610::FIDDLERM () Wed Jun 07 1989 10:20

        Does any still have copies of the NME of two or three weeks
    ago? They printed a listing of all the numbers that Factory Records
    assigned to thier products (FAC191, FAC205, etc), I think it was
    done over two or three weeks.
         If anyone still has them, can they do me a photocopy, ( or
    post them here?) especially of the last part? My little back stock
    of NMEs recently disappeared when my washing machine flooded the kitchen.

    Ta muchly.

    Todays NME prints an update to the Factory numbers saga ... in fact
    todays NME is now FAC 227 (to be more precise Fred Fact), it shows
    a letter of authorization from Tony Wilson Chairman of Factory Records.

    It also lists FAC 152-175.

    For the prioce of 30pence (plus a SAE) the foremost suppliers of
    Factory records and memorabillia will send you a detailed discography.
    Mail: Mark, The Record Peddler, 20a Swan Street, Manchester. M4 5JW.

437.8Factory's coding policyAYOU08::BELLTue Sep 26 1989 16:0118

    Is it true what I hear about the Factory codes being on EVERYTHING
    Factory have ever issued?

    I mean, I was led to believe that it's not just records on the label
    that are coded, but EVERYTHING they've ever been involved in.

    I've heard that gigs by Factory artists have been coded, some posters
    were coded, the Hacienda club I KNOW bears a Factory code number (I
    know 'cause I've seen it), videos are coded, etc. Making it IMPOSSIBLE
    to collect everything ever released on/by Factory.

    How correct am I here?

You're pretty  correct.  There's  even  a FACTORY egg-shaped-timer...There's
even page of the NME that has its own number but you probably COULD find
that!

    In December, Factory release a 4 album box set, entitled 'Palatine'.
    This will be a 'definitive' collection, tracing the labels history from
    its first releases up to the present day.

    Wonder if there are any rare Joy Division things around? About time we
    had a box set CD collection of JD.
