| Is it true that Neil Young is also there ?
I totally agree that it is THE best festival bill of this year,
1000 acts for 28.00 -- a bargain.
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing Attila the Stockbroker
for the 2nd time this year, Hothouse Flowers who were brill at
Reading festival last year and Elvis whose Spike lp I adore.

| does anyone know if there are any coaches/day trips going from the
reading/basingstoke area. I really want to go but I can't face
camping again. I like my health!!

Well then, what's the verdict from those who attended?. I've just
returned to the office today and my brain's still boiling from THAT
sun. Is anyone else having trouble trying to get back to "normal"
mode after the week-end?. I should have stayed in the Green Field....
...bloody hippy!!.
Best: Youssou N'Dour,Van Morrison,Atilla ( "Ace of Spades" by Jean-
Paul Sartre! ), Jerry Sadowitz ( succeeded in offending everyone
at least once! )
Worst: Suzanne Vega ( Mrs Jolly on a Friday night! .Who are the
organisers going to put on next year?, Leonard Cohen complete with
free razor blades?. The Waterboys, have become a bit of a folk-joke.
They used to be such a good band when they played "The Big Music".
Over and out

| The best performances on the main in my opinion were Van the Man
and Elvis. The Bhundu Boys did a great job warming up the crowd first
thing Saturday morning. Best guitar sound came from the Pixies and
The Wonder Stuff were good in places.
I was most impressed by Ted Hawkins on the acoustic stage. I went
expecting to see Brendan Croker but he couldn't make it. Ted H was
the replacement and was brill. The man has such a good voice and
his rapport with the crowd was amazing.
Biggest letdown was no Robert Cray or Neil Young. Does anyone know
what happened to them?
Mike.

| For me and the kids the best sight was the man with the full size
cross mounted on roller skate wheels, he was wierd but i guess there
were weirder sights than that , it seems that noone wanted to tow
my car away. So were there any weirder sights........................
apart from george fame of course.

436.7 | Jesus on wheels!! | YUPPY::OHAGANB | | Fri Jun 23 1989 18:59 | 14 |
| re .6
Yeah I saw that guy with the cross up in the Green Field. He was
getting some friendly abuse how Jesus obviously never had the benefit
of roller skate wheels on his cross.
Other weird things?. All those acid parties throughout the
night/morning, the tampon salesman in the theatre/circus field,
no rain, and the hired heavies (or should that mean security) at
the main entrances to the site.
Here's to next year!
Barry.

well i've finally managed to get my review in what with work and
pretending to organise courses ete etc..
anyway, i think that weekend was one of the best ever. to lie back
basking in the sun, near naked, completely out of it, on any substance
you like... listening to some of the best sounds around at the mo
i.e. The Throwing Muses, The Pixies, The Wonderstuff, The Proclaimers,
The Waterboys, Elvis Costello, Yossuou N'Dour (my personal faves
over the weekend).
I also caught the 'strange' person with the cross but did any of
you catch the three nutters in the theatre tent with the hooter
things...mental did you say???
To say I was sad at leaving is quite an understatement. I just keep
listening to The Eight Legged Groove Machine (WOnderstuff) and wishing
i was back there....never mind roll on Reading.....
Cheers
Tommy
