434.0. "Pet Shop Boys concerts" by HEART::COCKBURN (Craig, PhaseV & FCNS) Wed May 31 1989 19:40

The Pet Shop Boys are doing three concerts in the UK in July. The venues
are Glasgow, Birmingham and Wembley Arena I think, one day at each.

This was announced by the band on Radio 1 this morning.

If anyone wants tickets, mail your local S+SC rep to try and get some...

SaSC reps can't supply individual tickets - your best bet is to
contact a rep and try to organise a jolly to a show.

434.2A Different Kettle Of Fish !WOTVAX::MOOREPI hate having to balance my cheque book !Thu Apr 19 1990 18:0027
Is this the only note on The Pet Shop Boys, and if so don't they deserve a
wider conferencing by changing this note title ?

Although I rate the music, I find Neil Tennant's voice irritating after a
while. They obviously have a cult following looking at the prices some of
their limited editions are fetching. There has already been 3 seperate
discographies on them in Record Collector, which in turn tends to propagate
a renewed demand for the back-catalogue and in turn sends up the prices
even more ( 10" West End Girls in circular picture sleeve now fetches anything
upto 50)

On the Liza Minnelli project- I find this a bit over the top, and on listening
to the album I get the impression that the Pet Shop Boys either ran out of
ideas or they decided that she wasn't worth the effort (cover versions of
their own stuff !)

Dusty Springfield project is a different kettle of fish. Always liked
Nothing Has Been Proved and only recently discovered In Private which
I really like. Now got to search for the 12" remix ! Album already overdue.
In Private features on backing vocals Carol Kenyon (of Heaven 17's
"Temptation" fame) and Katie Kassoon (who sang on an early Human League
project "I Don't Depend On You" [under pseudonym The Men]).

Anybody know what they are upto now besides putting final touches to the
Dusty album ?

No idea what they're up to, but I collect PSB stuff.

I think some the remixes are cr@p, for instance out the 8 mixes I have
of West End Girls I think the 7" is best! Having said that I think all
the mixes of It's Alright are great.

question; Has anyone got or heard the Opportunities version latina, or
the extended mix of In The Night? I wanna know if they're worth the
    dosh that they're valued at.
