Well, the original album cover is all black with "raised relief"
graphics on it.
As for the "boots"copy,it shows Prince him/herself in a black dress.
Here the titles of the songs exactly described as on the original;
Le Grind
Cindy C
Dead on it
When 2 R in love
Bob,Ain't that a bitch
Superfunkycalifragisexi
2 nigs United for west compton
Rock hard in a funky place
Anybody else who have more info, pleezz dwhap?? 8^)

There is basically no way that you are going to get an original
as there are probably less than 100 in existance - however I have
recently seen TWO different versions on cd (both boots) - one I
have heard - it is all black with orange lettering and was taken
from a record or acitate - the sound quality is very good but there
are pops here and there - it also includes two extra studio out-takes
- the second version that I have just recently seen has a picture
of Prince live in concert on the cover and has three bonus live
tracks 'Purple Rain','1999', and 'Aplhabet St' - If anyone knows
about the quality on this send me mail.

it. Cost twenty-bucks.

Since the record company wouldn't release it, Prince took it into
his own hand to see that thousands of bootlegs pressings were made
so that his fans could listen to it. I think that every copy you
see is a bootleg, just some might sound better, or have more songs,
than others.

Hi there,
It was my week off last week, but I'm back.
RE.7
<Prince took it into his own hand to see that thsnds of boot's prssngs
were made>
Can you get this backed up with some evidence?
The original BLACK ALBUM is completely recorded and the entire loop
with; i.e. pressing, packaging was ready to hit the record stores
for release.
But his royal badness changed his mind overnight and pulled the
album from distribution.
His record company had to recall and store away the large number
of rec/CDs/tapes that had already been produced for sale, and also,
a substantial number of copies of the album had been pre-reeased
to radio and industrie people.
Eversince there has been a ferm black market business in the selling
of the BLACK album "bootleg".
Prince would never be that stupid to initiate a "bootleg" market
just to see that *his* revenues will go to third party's.
Reason for his action to withdraw the BLACK album was because of
rumours that the album would be too mean spirited.

| Hi all,
I thought,`why not an update reply?'
News is that the Black album:Prince is getting more popular as it
is aging.
Yes,I'm still on the hunt for a original copy and it is possible
*still*
The only copy that concerns me(as I said)is the one that has an
all black outer sleeve with raised relief spelling`Black Album'
The label that it is released on is "Erotic city" with it's
record number NO(1)R-69-a/b
Just recently one original popped up on a second hand record swap
venue in a mall,I asked if he would sell it to me...but no.
Rumor has it that new copies(booty's from the original of good quality)
U.K. made are going to hit the streets soon, and that maybe in the
next 5 or 6 weeks from now.
If anybody hears of it,please note in here?
Well,back to my hunt.
Talk later,
YO!

I saw TWO copies just like you describe at a record fair last Saturday,
they were going for 12quid each. If the original Black Album is as rare
as you say they must have been bootlegs!

Christie's recently had a auction of rock items under the hammer was:
Prince - Plain Sleeved cop of Black Album
Sold for 935 pounds
I hope that this was an original, for the sake of the buyer.
<------->
re -last couple
You can get good quality copies of the Black Album now. I have
a bootleg of it on CD and the quality is Excellent almost as good
as an official release.(it also contains 8 outtakes of various Prince
tracks which are also of surprisingly good quality)
Brian.
One more thing: 1999 has been digitally remastered on CD and DMSR
(which was originally missing from the first release) has now been
included. It has already been released in the states so expect a
UK release pretty soon. Lets hope they don't charge 13 quid for it
again. By the way Warner Bros. are not allowing trade-ins on the
original release.

Gee thanks for your info Brian regarding the Black album.
Another recent case that occured of which I would like to have a copy
of is a by mistake released single of Mica Paris called"If I love U 2
nite".It seems that on the "B" side of this single a mistake was made.
A "demo" cut that Prince offered to Mica Paris last year was acciden-
tally pressed on that "B" side. The mistake was discovered when allready
200 copies have been distributed to clients.I don't know if these were
12" singles.

Jan,
Regarding the "If I Love U 2 Nite" pressing. I believe it was
the 12" promo that had the Prince version on it. Of course it
was sent out to all the Radio stations/music mags etc so the
only chance of getting hold of one is if they decide to make
some money by selling it.
I heard that Mica's record company has asked for all copies of
the promo to be returned so they can be destroyed. Would you
return a copy of single were only 200 copies had been produced?
They must think there are some very honest people out there.
It sounds like another Black album to me.
How much would you consider paying for this item if you had the
chance to buy one?
