They do sound effect records for amateur dramatic groups, and are VERY
quick to send stuff off by mail (they take telephone orders and allow
you to pay by credit card).
Now, can I put in a free plug for the Digital Really Amateur Theatrical
Society play which is on in May? No? Oh, sorry...

| This is an independant company who mainly provide scripts and
accessories to amateur dramatic groups.
Sorry, the Digital RATS group only play in Reading...(but it's a
stunningly amusing play, easily worth ten times the asking price of
2.75 a ticket....)

Try ringing another local radion station. I worked at one for a while,
and we used to get loads of enquiries for all sorts of recordings.

Our local Library has a record lending section which usually has
about 20 sound effects albums available - some are a bit scratchy
though...It costs a nominal sum to borrow a record...presumably
they'll go to CD at some point - I haven't been in there for ages.
Alternatively, try the CD lending places that are springing up
everywhere.
I used a BBC sound effects track "lunatics laughing" which is about
45 seconds long, and using a finger on the record to slow it down
or speed it up, and by recording various parts twice acheived a
5 minute session of laughing which wasn't too repetetive.
btw, The Jam "Sound Affects" album cover was a copy of the cover
design of the BBC series.
