| Didn't see the prog but I quess its the same bloke. Allan Taylor
is one our our local folk heroes. Hailing from Leeds he has been
around the scene since the late 60's. He still plays the folk club
circuit and is well worth seeing if you get the chance. I have two
of his albums, 'The Lady' (Autographed) obtained when he played
in the club I ran back in 71 and 'Circle Round Again' which is a
remix sampler type album of tracks from his earlier work. Another
one was called 'The American Album'.I can't remember what label
they're on but I'll have a look when I get home. He is known locally
as 'Spud' Taylor, don't know why but there it is.
Most of his material is as you say fairly laid back 70s style acoustic
folk-rock. He has written some beautiful songs on all types of topics
from straight-forward love songs to strong politacal comment. I still
have a cassette in the car which I put on every so often. Never
got the recognition he deserved in my opinion.

| Sounds like the guy. Must keep my eyes open in the record shops.
Re my original note. Its, Aly Bain of course, not McBain. Yesterday
he had, amongst others, Michelle Shocked. It really is a show worth
watching. 14:00 Sundays, Channel 4.
I also remember Ch4's new years eve thrash was Aly Bain in the Southern
States. I didn't see the program but I bet it was good.

| This guy was introduced by Aly Bain as 'the greatest singer songwriter
in England' and he certainly sounded English.
