326.1 | Freiheit | LARVAE::BRIGGS | They use computers don't they? | Mon Jan 30 1989 12:01 | 6 |
| That thing by Freiheit (?). You know that vocal thing that sounds
just like Paul Mcartney but isn't. Well, the record sounds identical
to a track out a few years ago that was a hit. But I can't place
it. Anyone else had that sense of deja vu on this one?

326.2 | But I can think of worse people to copy | MARVIN::MACHIN | | Mon Jan 30 1989 13:05 | 5 |
| It reminded me of Paul M's tune with the cartoon of Ruper Bear or
something. Frog Chorus? Anyway, maybe not the same tune, but close
enought for a court-case.

Freiheit = Cindy Lauper's 'All through the night'
Try singing the words from one over the other - perfect fit !

| I thought it sounded like Maccas "Pipes of Peace". Yes?

326.5 | Enya | STP::ANDERSON | Where's the snow? | Wed Feb 15 1989 17:56 | 5 |
| OK, this has been bothering me for a while. What does the opening of
Enya's Oronoco Flow sound like? I think it reminds me of a terrible
'60's song but...

| Carol Decker claims it sounds like 'China in your hand' by T'Pau.
I don't agree - but they do both open with pizzicato strings.

Some good soundalikes for you all.
RED LORRY YELLOW LORRY's "Only Dreaming" has a bass line just like
LED ZEPPELIN's "When The Leeve Breaks".
GEORGE MICHEALS's "Faith" is a direct rip-off of THE CURE's "Close
To Me".
A very early SIMPLE MINDS song called "Changeling" was inspired
(I'm sure of this) by the theme tune for that old kiddies programme
The Wombles, you can sing The Womble theme perfectly to the first
verse of "Changeling".
All together now .....
"Underground, overground
wombleing free
the wombles of Wimbledon common are we
making good use of the things that we find
things that the everyday folks leave behind"
Huh! Well saying I can remember the words. I remember when I was a
boy .......
