| I love Alison Moyet. I've liked her since she was in Yaz with E.C.
Radclife, Eric's mum and Vince Clarke. She is a very talented singer
but doesn't get much notice in the U.S. Is she popular in the U.K.?
The last album of her's I have is "Raindancing" and I loved that
album (practically wore the cd out) and have been waiting patiently
for the arrival of her next. Can anyone help?
Sorry I didn't write sooner but I'm new with the company and just
discovered the notes file.

| Hi Sherry...welcome aboard! I loved Alf's voice in Yaz. How does that
compare to her solo stuff.

| Re; "would a Yaz lover like Alison solo?"
The solo stuff isn't as obviously electronic.
But the answer , in my opinion, is YES YES YES YES!
For some reason the states knew YAZOO as 'YAZ' . Anyone know why?
BTW : She is supposed to be in the process of completing her next
album.

| Off the subject a wee bit...
I reckon the YAZOO stuff are still great to listen too, they are a
couple of my all-time favorites... Can anyone tell me which charting
YAZOO single doesn't appear on "Upstairs at Eric's" or "You and me
Both"? It was the question on some nondescript programme some time ago,
and it always puzzled me, coz I can't remember any more singles....

| There were only four Yazoo hits that charted (but I don't know what was
on the albums):
Only you
Don't go
The other side of love

| Keith,
Methinks you are right.... Don't remember "The other side of love"
being on either album.
But wasn't "Walk away from love" a hit, and that was on one of the albums?
All these songs about love, gets so confusing....
cheers,

| Well I'm happy to see some response. I beleive on the U.K release
from Yazoo there were some difference's. On Upstairs at Eric's
U.k. release there was a track titled "Happy People." Some of my
friends thought it was annoying but I found it to be rather amuzing.
As for You and Me Both there is one additional song but the title
escapes me at the moment. I will have to check my cd's at home.
Also, YES, a Yaz fan would and does enjoy Alison's vocal solo.
I bought Alf because of her and was very pleased with it. So in
turn I bought Raindancing. I can't wait for a new release.
Couple of questions. Did Eric Radcliffe die?
Has Alison ever done any live preformances?
I would love to go see her live. Her voice is so intense and feeling.

292.10 | Not clear on the name change... | RAB::KARDON | I must not think bad thoughts | Fri Sep 29 1989 17:20 | 7 |
| About the name change... All I know is that it was because of
copyright reasons. I just assumed that there was some obscure US band
named YAZOO.
Thanks for the input.

Yes. I say her live at Wembley promoting her Raindancing album.
Not bad, but I've been to better.

| I would just love to see her live. The Raindancing album has some
haunting songs on it. Stay is one of my favorites along with Sleep
like Breathing. There are so many things I would like to know about
her and the old band Yaz. When I worked in a radio station at high
school I used to play Upstairs at Eric's all the time and got a
bunch of my friends into Yaz. I really like her voice and can't
wait for a new album.

292.13 | TO RESUME MATTERS | XSTACY::NBLEHEIN | | Tue Jul 30 1991 14:43 | 24 |
| It's a long time since anyone wrote in to this folder so I'll start by
answering a few thingies:
1. RE: the name YAZ vs. YAZOO ,
There was indeed an obscure band called Yazoo in the states.
They sued Mute/Vince Clark/E.C. Radcliffe and walked away with a large
part of the advance money for (our) Yazoo's second album. (believed to
be about 300,000 pounds at the time)
2. RE: Alisons concerts
They're really good. She does a mixture of her own and Yazoo's
stuff thrown in together.Load's of energy.
3. Happy people appeared on the U.K. edition of "YOU AND ME BOTH"
not on "UPSTAIRS AT ERIC'S". The U.S. edition has the short version
of State Farm in it's place.
4. Walk away from Love was never released as a single.
5. "HOODOO" -Alisons new L.P. is a lot better than "RAINDANCING" or
"ALF" but it wont sell as well cos it's not as commercial.
Please reply to this folder again,

| She didn't really lose all that much . All the most recent photograhps
have concentrated on her form the shoulders up. I saw one full length
photo in Q-magazine and she's still quite heavy.

by the dreaded radio 1 playlist? Can anyone do anything about this?
That is the main reason why HOODOO hasn't sold.It ony reached no.11 as
opposed to no.2 for RAINDANCING (double platinum) and no.1 for ALF
(quadrouple platinum).

She's about to release a new track off off Hoodoo called
"back where I belong" , I think early September. I have a promo copy,
(that's how I know), if this track doesn't hit top ten I'll be very
surprised. It's had a re-working and is one of the most danceable
tracks to be released this year. Enigma-meets-Moyet.
What a voice!

good as IT WON'T BE LONG ? How do you get promo copies? I hate when
people can get things I cant!

10 out 0f 10!
it WAS a b side. it never should have been. I always thought this should be
an A side.
There's been some strange things going on with her releases. The track "Back
Where I Belong" should have done great, but I've only seen that as a bonus
track on a 12". I found a white label of it 3 months ago which is the most
amazing remix. Why oh why wasn't it released?
Still, at least she's released "This House"
