    Just a question....

I'm an American, so I easily get confused. 8^)

Is there a difference between Wembly Arena and Wembly Stadium.
If So how big are they. (how many people do they hold)?

The Arena and Stadium are next door to each other ....

The Stadium is usually for football and Mega concerts
	(Bruce/Live Aid/Queen/Bowie etcetcetc)

The Arena is used for Horse Show jumping amongst other things
	and smaller concerts.

The Arena is under cover and holds lots of people - 30,000 ???

The Stadium is open air and holds lots and lots and lots - 90,000 ????

I stand to be corrected on the figures.

    ARENA

Use to be known as the Empire Pool, as it was originally built for
the Olympic Games - it was used as a swimming pool. Holds about
    7-8,000.

    STADIUM

Home of English soccer. Holds about 60-70,000 for outdoor gigs.

    Hope thios clears it up,

    David.

273.5Wembley Arena Sound QualitySEDOAS::NEALEAlison NealeThu Dec 01 1988 12:5014

I think that going to concerts at Wembley Arena is a waste of time
and money, because of the terrible sound quality there. They try
to compensate by turning up the volume, but that just seems to make
it even worse. It's a shame because, due to its capacity, most of
the big groups choose to play there.

This opinion is based on my experience over the last year or so,
but I would be interested to know if anyone has been to a concert
there when the sound quality was good.

    Cheers,

    Alison.
273.6SUBURB::DALLISONI'd buy that for a dollar!Thu Dec 01 1988 13:3111

On the whole, Wobbly Arena is a bit naff, but I did see one gig
there which had a good sound. It was 'Kiss', a couple of months
back, and they sounded great. They must have shot the sound man
because the previous night (I saw them on both of their London
dates) the sound was naff!!! If I'd had the option I would have
    gone home early.

They do tend to turn up the volume too loud though.

I've been to Wembley Arena a fair number of times and I did hear
one sound system that actually worked well - Gary Numan's farewell
    concerts in 1981!!!
