-< Ricky and the Last Days of Earth >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was listening to the main Italian national radio station here
the other day (they play great music in the evening), and there
was a programme dealing with the A to Z of British punk/new wave
1976-78. And most enjoyable it was too!!
I actually caught the third of four programmes in which they covered
bands from N to S in the alphabet. I recall hearing great sounds
by Sham 69, The Only Ones, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Sex Pistols,
The Rich Kids, etc.
And so to the question. The most obscure song played was by a group
called Ricky and the Last Days of Earth, a brilliant called "City
of the Damned". Anyone know anything about this band? The DJ was
waxing lyrical about them. Apparently, they only made one album
and it's very hard to get hold of, but the DJ said that every track
was a gem. One of those bands who inexplicably get ignored and then
break up after one superb album, disheartened by the lack of attention.
Any info would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Dom

Yeah, Lovers of Today rates as a classic from that era with me
BTW, Mike Kellie, their drummer used to play with Spooky Tooth in
the late 60's/early 70's
Still, this has got nowt to do wi' Ricky etc.
Am I getting confused here or did some of them become something
else later (Raped? Swell Maps??)
All these names, all those records I never got hold of, it's become
a bit of a blur

I thought this was a "Ricky ..." note!!!!
I have the album "4 Minute Warning" (at least I think it's called
that). It must be over 10 years old now, and I think I bought it
'cause I really liked one track (possibly the title track) at the
time.
David
PS: Nice to be back ....

RE: .5
Well, I've not seen it around, but then again, I haven't looked.
It might be deleted, but you're best bet is bargain bins.
David.
