Leon Redbone is a reclusive person not given to talking to the media
much.
He toured here a few years back as opener for Leo Kottke and I saw
him at the New Victoria in London.
He looks a bit like Groucho Marx and has a bit of comedy in his
act like starting to play with his gloves on, then removing them,
hanging a tin cup on his guitar.
Halfway through his set he bought on a tuba (!) player.
I bought one of his albums called Champagne Charlie and frankly
found it a disappointment.
I suspect that he has at least one album on Stephan Grossmans label.
His guitar playing, which is based on ragtime style, is breathtaking.
