As far as I know they never actually existed other than on record, I'm
not even sure they keep the same line up. However I haven't heard any
recent news regarding albums etc.
The only album I've got by them is 'Vulture Culture' which I bought
after hearing a band in Aberdeen do a cover of one of the tracks, its
not a bad album but the cover version of that particular track was much
better.
Hippy.

AP Is not really a band its just AP with a few session musos to
fill in. Ive never seen Him or heard of him gigging. Someone once
told me that he was involved with Floyd in their earlier years.

"Someone once

Yep. He was heavily involved with "Dark Side...."
He's more of a producer, who can play music, and has access to a
studio and some good session players, than a musician per se.

Depending upon who you listen to (either the boys in Floyd or Parsons),
he produced most of DSOTM - at least, that is what Parsons claims. The
members of Floyd say that he is overstating his value to the recording.
Alan Parsons also engineered some of the later Beatles recording,
inlcuding (I think) 'Sgt. Pepper' and/or 'Abbey Road'. If you ever
hear his stuff on CD, it sounds great!

| I'm working from memory here, and it ain't as good as it used to
be, so please forgive the errors.
Alan Parsons is quite well known as a producer - he produced
Al Stewart's "Year Of The Cat" album and John Miles' single "Music"
amongst other things.
As for the Project, I think it basically consists of Parsons and
a guy called Eric Woolfson(?), plus various session musicians. These
musicians include most of the group Pilot - Stuart Tosh, David Paton,
Ian Bairnson - plus Stuart Elliott who played drums on "Year Of
The Cat" and who has, I think, worked with Kate Bush as well. These
are the fairly regular members of the line-up but there must be
many others who have contributed, including the keyboard player
Duncan Mackay.
The vocalists vary from album to album as well, but have included:
Arthur Brown (yes, of "Fire" fame), John Miles, Peter Straker, Allan
Clarke (lead singer with The Hollies), Steve Harley, and Colin
Blunstone. I can't remember any others just now.
The albums I've got are: Tales Of Mystery And Imagination
I Robot
Pyramid
Eve
The Turn Of A Friendly Card
Eye In The Sky
I think Pyramid is my favourite, but I'll admit that it's a while
since I listened to any of them. You've put me in the mood for giving
at least one of them a spin tonight! I'll also try to find out who
else has been involved.

He was also involved with The Hollies, playin' synth (I think) on
their "Another Night" album. They spoke very highly of him.

| I've had four of them on tape now for about eight or nine years:
Tales of Mystery and Imagination
I, Robot
Pyramid
Eve
They're all very good. A few months back I thought it was about time
I bought them on record. After much searching through various Our Price
("a warped record, Sir? no problem, it has to be specially warped in
Japan though so it's double the price, OK?") shops without any luck
I found Tales... in Tower Records, London. I had thought that after all
this time it was bound to be a 3.99 job, but no: they've only gone and
re-released it as a digital recording at 7.99. I think I'd rather
listen to my aging tape. Sigh.
Steve.
P.S. I bought Ammonia Avenue about two years ago but haven't got round
to listening to it yet.

Do. It's good. And why not buy them on CD - AP sounds great on CD!
(If you haven't got a CD player, why not? :-) )

I've got a CD player, but I don't buy CD's anymore... after all, why
buy CD's when they sound *much* better on vinyl??
However, I'll put Ammonia Avenue on tonight and give it a spin.
Steve.

Do you have a Multi-Million dollar turntable or somthing? I'd like
to know how you get records to sound better than CDs.
Just Curious.
