208.1 | Find that Fish... | SHAPES::FIDDLERM | | Tue Sep 20 1988 13:38 | 13 |
| The song is by a canadian group called 'Barnes and Barnes' - I think
the spelling is correct. They had a fun amateurish video that went
with it.
I know that a few years ago the song was available as a picture
disc shaped like a fish head. You will probably have to dig around
a lot to find it nowadays. Perhaps some of the second hand shops
in london could help.

They don't play baseball
They don't wear sweaters
They can't play drums

| In the morning, laughing happy fish heads
In the evening, floating in the soup
(chorus Fish heads... etc)
Ask a fish head anything you want to
It won't answer - they can't talk
(chorus)
I took a fish head out to see a movie
Didn't have to pay to get him in.
(chorus)
They don't play baseball, they're not good dancers
They don't wear sweaters they don't play drums
(chorus)
Roly Poly fish heads are never seen drinking cappucino in expensive
Italian restaurants with oriental women.....

| Thanks for the info - that was so quick, I may be able to get the
record during my lunch break (though I doubt it - Warrington aint
exactly the record capital of the world!).
Cheers - and remember EAT THEM UP YUM!

208.4 | More details about the video... | KERNEL::IMBIERSKI | Three views of a secret | Tue Sep 20 1988 13:55 | 25 |
| In the video the two guys (Barnes and Barnes) walk around dressed
in bin liners. Various scenes include...
Sort of Birthday Party affair with a large table with jellies, cakes
etc on it. Sitting at the table are loads of fish heads with party
hats on covered in flys etc. There's also a guy there pretending
to really enjoy the party - blowing party poppers and tickling the
fish heads under the chin.
Guy talking on a public phone with an ever increasing queue of people
waiting to use it. Cut to the other end of the line and he's been
talking to..... yes a fish head.
Baseball match with a fish head waiting to bat. The pitcher pitches
the ball which just knocks the fish head over.
Scene in a cafe where a guy goes up to a counter and slaps down
some money. The cafe owner gives him a fish head whereupon the guy
picks it up and starts dancing round the cafe with the other customers.
This video is just about the most amazingly warped piece of film
I've ever seen. Its REALLY weird.

| If you can't find it, listen to the Dr. Demento show on the radio(if
you get in in the UK) He loves the song and plays it often! You
could possibly tape it from the radio.

1980s. It also includes a kazoo band playing A Whole Lotta Love!
