I read a couple of motnths ago that he has signed to a new
label which will only put out 'ambience' or 'new wave'
music (i.e. no vocals, a blessing where Gary is concerned(-:)
I'll try and backtrack to find out if any timetable re albums
was mentioned.

| Dear Bill,
Where have you looked for his albums? I have a friend who is a
Gary Numan fantic, and she has a good selection of his albums.
Have you tried Newbury Comics?
Also - give Nuggets record store a try in Kenmore Square...they
have a lot of obscure stuff there.
I'll ask my friend and find out where she got most of her collection.
Take care.

RE: Michele
Yes, I have a pretty good selection of his stuff, but it is
still difficult to get. I do frequent Newbury comics, in Harvard
square, and the one in Framingham, which is closer to where I live.
I have in the past couple of months, picked up many of his albums
which have been now converted over to CD. The older ones, they
put 2 albums on a CD, and left off some of the songs, which they
put on a double CD called Exebition. Some people think I am crazy
for liking his music, but I guess I can relate to it pretty well.
Here is a list of his stuff I have
Standard release albums
-----------------------
Tubeway Army - First album
Replica's
Pleasure Principal
Telekon
Dance
I Assasin
Warriors
Berzerker
The Fury
Strange Charm
Live Albums - Both double
-----------
Living Ornaments
White Noise (I think thats what it's called)
Various other albums & 12inch 45's
----------------------------------
New Man Numan
a couple of albums of very early stuff
About 6 CD's with his albums, etc
Thanks
Bill Powers

| These days he flies planes and votes Tory (maybe he always voted
Tory, tho'). But he's definitely well into flying: I saw him on
tv the other day in a programme about an airshow; he was in a light
plane stunt team.

Re Base Note
Bill,
Did you ever get to see him in concert at all. I just wondered
if his US tours were as spectacular as the ones that I saw in the
UK some years ago.
I don't really listen to him now, I dropped out after the I
Assassin LP as I think he went downhill after that.

Was the movie 'Urgh!' ever released in the UK? Because it had an
amazing concert scene in it with Gary Numan performing "Down in the
Park" - AMAZING show!
Alan S.
BTW - 'Urgh!' was a great movie. Other bands included XTC, Gang of Four,
999, Chelsea, Police, Go-Gos, Joan Jett, Klaus Nomi, and hordes
of other new-wave type bands....

| I'm a fan of Gary Numan's older material. I have two recent releases,
_New Anger_ and _Outland_, and neither has the intriguing, surprising
synth work I expected.
Instead, both opt for a dance format, with "soul" singing, and just a
general harsh overall feel.
I don't own many Numan CDs, so I can sympathize with the noter who
talks about availability in the US. It's pretty limited.
For a while I was seeing some imports at Newbury Comics, but not
on a consistent basis.
Try Sound City USA out of Portland, Oregon. (503) 654-2196. They
takes payment by check and also MasterCard/VISA. They have I,
Assassin/Telekon on one CD, and also Replicas/The Plan (which is the
only import I have).
Replicas is very good, with lots of melodies inserted into a stark,
robotic background of rythym and Gary's haunting, android voice on top
of it all. "I Nearly Married a Human" is almost poignant, even
though it's instrumental. "Down in the Park" and "Are Friends
Electric?" are also on Replicas.
I also have the live Skin Mechanic cd. "We Are Glass" and "I Die,
You Die" are on that. What albums had the originals of these;
anyone know?

Laser Quest's new packs today. Just thought you might like
to know.

| Excuse my ignorance, but what is "Oxford Laser Quest's new packs"?
Also Mark, you mentioned that he's in concert, does that mean I should
be combing the Toronto record stores for a new release? The most
recent cd's of his that I have is "Machine and Soul" along with two
compilations of post-Warriors stuff.
Thanx for any info!

| He was doing a personal appearance at the laser-tag facility in Oxford,
UK.
The tour was entitled something like "Neuman: the 93 tour" rather than
something like "The Album Title tour",so I don't know...
