133.0. "The Silencers" by 45384::IBL (an Electric Monk on a bored horse) Thu Jun 30 1988 12:35

All the talk in the Hippy topic about The Bible set me thinking
about another band that have "come to the fore" at least on national
radio. Does anyone have any info on The Silencers? I understand
that two albums exist, as well as the current single "Painted Moon".
I have the CD version of "Painted Moon" which has the 7" single
release, plus the Blues Mix of same, and two extra tracks "A Letter
From St. Paul", and "Here Comes The Train", both of which are
instrumentals (and very good ones at that). Are these tracks to
be found on either of the albums? Any help would be appreciated.

    							Ian!

Just noticed this topic, sorry for not replying earlier Ian,
both versions on 'Painted Moon' are on the 'Letter from St
Paul' CD, the title track is mainly instrumental, but with
a girl reading the letter in question on top.

I'll check up on the other track this evening.

Has anyone come across the release of the third LP from The
Silencers? I came upon a CD single w/3 cuts about 4 months back. It
contained a 'new' single, reportedly from a forthcoming LP, an
instrumental piece, and a 'live' rendition of a previously available
song. Often there can be as much as a 6 month delay between the UK,
    and US release dates.

    re -1.

The Silencers released their 3rd album "Dance to The Holy Man" over 2
years ago.Their 4th album called "Seconds of Pleasure" was released
back in about May of this year, following the release of their only
single this year "I Can Feel It",which is on the album. As far as I know
that is the only material that has been released in the last 18 months
or so.I'm not sure of the tracks that were on "I Can Feel It" single
    cd.
The albums so far are :

  1. A letter to St Paul
  2. Blues for Bhudda
  3. Dance to the Holy Man
  4. Seconds of Pleasure

As for forthcoming concerts, they play Glasgow Barrowlands on Friday
the 12th of November, and if I find out the other tour dates,I'll pass
    them on.

         Thanks Andy,

The overwhelming complexities of the "new" math have again betrayed me.
You're quite right, I WAS refering to the fourth LP. However, as I did
observe, this music has yet to be released in the States, and these
arbitrary delays in distribution continue to mystify/frustrate me.
