| | I have the "Official Colourbox World Cup Theme" with the delightful
Jimmy Hill'y sleeve in my possession. It came out in 1986 just before
    the world cup (predictably enough).

Oh, yeah, I forgot that one. Sorry. The CD release of "Colourbox"
has the 12" version of "The Official..." on it. It's a lot better
than the game it represents, that's for sure....8^)

    Side lines to this note:

A.R.Kane, as mentioned in the base note, have released their
debut album, entitled `Sixty-nine'. Not bad stuff at all. Shades
of the quieter(?) side of the Mary Chain. Worth a listen.

Great stuff, thanx peeps. The only remaining question is, Are
Colourbox Still Making Music? Or, to put it another way, What Is
Steven Young up to now? Anybody know? I finally plucked up the
courage to invest in This Mortal Coil's "Filigree & Shadow", on
which S.M. Young is credited fairly frequently, but of course that's
not exactly a new album, so has the man turned his hand to any other
    artistes of late?

| | There are two Colourbox CD's out, both entitled "COLOURBOX" (shades of
Peter Gabriel) or they may use their 4AD serial nos. as titles (shades
of Yes). The first CD is the first album plus songs like "Fast Dump",
"Edit the Dragon" etc (basically what was on the "dub" album). The
second CD features most of the "Horses Fucking" release, plus the
"Official Colourbox World Cup Theme". There are too many 12"s to name,
and most of them have great b-sides. One that I -know- wasn't
mentioned was the "record three" 12" which has something I can't
remember on it... there's also the "Say You" 12"...

Colourbox are the balls. Long live sequencers and 16th-note bass
    lines!

Speaking of 4AD, what DOES "4AD" mean, anyway?

I may be wrong, but I recently saw 4AD typed "4 A.D.", which I assume
means "4 Anno Domini" (or something like that), which would imply that
the record company was formed 4 years after the birth of Christ... ;-)
I recently found a 4 A.D. sampler CD that contained a Cocteau Twins
song called "Crushed" (I think). Does anyone have this CD? Can anyone
tell me anything about the song "Crushed" (like, is the song available
    on any other CD?).
    Thanks,
    John

Re: `Crushed': All the songs on the `lonely...' compilation were
recorded solely for that album, apart from one of the Dead Can Dance
tunes. None of them appear anywhere else. There is a Video of
the album though, quite readily available, if you'd like a rare
    glimpse of the Cocteaus.
