117.0. "What no track?" by SUBURB::DANCEA (Hacking is my business...) Fri Jun 17 1988 16:57

I have recently bought the new Hawkwind album "The Xenon CodeX" on CD.

On the back it lists 10 tracks, but when I put the little round disc in the
player onlt 9 come up.

I don't know which one it is that is missing, but I know for sure that on
the record there is deffinately 10 tracks.

I didn't actually notice this, untill I mentioned to a friend that I got the
whole album on one side of a C90.

He then said I must have a track missing as he tried to get the record onto
tape and it didn't fit on one side of the same tape.

Well theres the background,

Any help in finding out whether I have a duff CD or if it's the same on all
CD's is much appreciated.

    Hello /Andy ,

Sorry don't know anything about this CD ,infact I don't know
anything about Hawkwind these days . Which brings me to my question
.. Have they changed at all in recent years ?

I used to listen often to Hawkwind ( +Gong ,Here&Now ,Hillage
Etc etc ) around mid-to-late 70's .I did get to see them once at
Glasgow Apollo . Still have strong affection for them but the last
time I sat down to listen it just wasn't the same as yesteryear,
maybe I just didn't get the right 'atmosphere' :-)

    re .0 and .1

I came across an article on Hawkwind in a magazine a couple
of weeks back. It covers the history of the band from '69(?)
till the present. It gives a discography and some very, very
interesting 'stories' about the line up!!!

If any of you are interested give me your mailstop and I'll
    sent a photocopy.

Re: 117.1 By S_GOUDIE -=Was it that long ago ?=-

Stuart,

In answer to your question:-

> .. Have they changed at all in recent years ?

Well, I would say most definately "YES". And I think that the music they are
producing these day's is a lot different from thier earlier stuff. I won't
go as far to say that it's actually better than the old stuff as I like all
of it, but the new album "The Xenon CodeX" is very good and just goes to
show what they can still do. Recently I haven't had much chance to listen to
it much, but as you suggest the #atmosphere# (:-)) is very important for a
good listen of this album.

I also heard that Hawkwind played at Stonehenge this year, but I was in a
different part of site ;-)

Well that's it from me, highest recomendation for all to go out "now" and
buy "the Xenon CodeX".
