I would think that their fan club address must be on the back of
one of their albums - yes?
They've released a new album and single here. I know that their
following in the US borders (still) on the masonic, but I think
they've had their time as far as shifting vinyl in quantities or
even coming up with anything newish goes. "Ride My See Saw" is
still one of my faves.

| Hear Hear Dave (how's things). I too think Ride My See Saw is notable.
Particularly for the guitar solo which for '67 (?) was something
and still is today in my view.
One of my other all time favourites was New Horizons which seems
to have a tireless haunting quality about it.
Some of their best tracks were on Childrens Childrens Children but
as an album I didn't think it hung togther as well as others. Higher
and Higher was a BAD track in my view.

| To our Children's Children is a classic!
There recent material such as "Long Distance Voyager" was fit for
the bargain bins in which it ended up. Sad because they were such
a creative bunch

Anyone in the UK know any details concerning a new studio release by
the Moody Blues ? Justin Hayward had made passing references to such
an effort during their summer '94 tour but there have been no details
yet that I know of. Is it still in the "concept" stage or are they in
the studio ?
Curious.

which is the best Moody Blues album ?
"Long Distant Voyageur"
"Days of Future Passed"
"7th Sojourn"
"Key to the Kingdom"
"
"
prefer original, and no compilation of greatest hits.
better still, if someone can give a discography.

| I always liked :-
Search for the Lost Chord (including "Legend of a Mind")
On the Threshold of a Dream
Question Of Balance
I wouldn't write off the compilations; there was a good one released in
1977 (cover showed a blue sky with white clouds). Also, I'm not
convinced that the CD versions are the best media for the early Moody
Blues stuff....they seemed to have lost something in the digitizing
process.

RE: .6
There are other MB albums I have not mentioned in .5 besides the
ones you recommended
o the Present
o the other side of life (this is rather new compared to the rest)
o Sur La Mer (is this the one released in 1977 you refer to ?)
There is one live MB album. I think the title is something like
" on the Red Rock".
For compilation, I find one single CD (titled the MB greatest hits)
and another double CD album (titled This is the Moody Blues).
"In search of the lost chord" has a gold CD edition.
I have listened to many of these albums, I only have the
"Long Distance Voyager" and also their hit "Nights in white satin".
"Long" is still an excellent album to any standard, songs like
"Talking out of turn", "In my world" plus many others in that
album are just all time classics. Nowadays it is hard to produce
record of that magnitude of quality.
I would love to hear more about the view of MB's albums from their fans.

| There is a Web page devoted to the Moody Blues at
http://www.imsa.edu/~locutus/moody-blues.html
There is also a list-server for Moody Blues fans called "Lost Chords",
which is documented in the web page, as well as an
alt.music.moody-blues newsgroup. The Lost Chords is not terribly
illuminating (unless you wish to bask in Justin Hayward's reflected
glory), but occasionally has informative items.
