| The last new material I heard with Steve Hackett on it was an album
called GTR, by a band called (yup you guessed it :-) ) GTR.
Line-up was: Steve Hackett (Guitar,keyboards,b-vox)
Steve Howe (Guitar,Keyboards,b-vox)
Phil Spalding (Bass)
Jonathon Mover (Drums,percussion)
Max Bacon (Vocals,stupid name)
The live line-up added a keyboard player whose name I can't remember.
The support act for their gigs at Hammersmith consisted of two seperate
solo sets done by S. Howe and S. Hackett and a duet. Support was
acoustic.
The band broke up after one album. Said album can be hard to find,
rather mixed, but worth the money if your addicted to Howe and/or
Hackett. I wish they'd shot the vocalist :-)

Does anybody know what Steve Hackett is doing? The last I heard
is two acoustic-only albums he recorded a couple of years ago.

I do not have actual news, but some, which were two years old.
He has recently done a cover of "Sailing" (org. Rod Stewart) featuring
also: Bonnie Tyler, Simon Philips, Fish and a few more Artists. But it
is not the typical Hackett music.
I've met him after a gig, he had done with his accoustic Guitar, and he
told me that he is going to do another "Rock" Album, after the
"Sailing" project. So I think he is still writing material or he's in
a studio, recording new stuff. The last Hackett album was released two
years ago, wasn't it? And this was an accoustic Guitar album. His last
rock album was released in 1986. Am I right?
I hope, that he will do a new release, soon. Can't wait for it.

Peter,
Thanks for your valuable input. I also hardly can wait for his next
release, such a fine guitarist, and a nice fellow I'd guess. His last
two, acoustic, albums were 'Bay Of Kings' and 'Momentum'. The 'rock'
album before those was 'Till We Have Faces' (I think, have to check
it). The 'Sailing' recording sounds like a weird choice for Steve -
under what name will it be released?
So far, I've bought everything that he has recorded!

Poul,
the "Sailing" Track was released on a 5" CD Single and possibly on 7"
and 12" Single also. The band has the name: "Rock Against
Repartriation".
I have all his official albums. And I think, the best ones are:
Voyage Of The Acolyte, Please Don't Touch and Spectral Mornings.
I've seen him also during his "Cured" Tour in Hamburg. Great Concert
with good musicians (Ian Mosely on drums, he's joined Marillion in
times) and with "The Air Conditioned Nightmare" as opener. Fantastic.
Yes, I think he's one of the best guitar player, that I've ever seen
and heard. I've got a 30min Live Video Cut from Sweden. It was
recorded, also, during his "Cured" tour. Interested in, let me know.
O.K. That's all for the moment.
Regards

79.12 | Problem with "Do Not Touch" CD | WHALER::WHITWOOD_N | Nigel Whitwood | Wed Sep 29 1993 11:38 | 7 |
| I have just purchased a copy of "Do Not Touch" and was suprised to find
that a delay of about 5 seconds seems to have been introduced before
the title track (ie. between tracks 7 and 8). As what was side 2 is
continuous with no natural breaks the CD sounds very odd.
Has anybody out there got a CD of this that doesn't display this
problem.

Title must be 'Please Don't Touch'. I would say go to the dealer and
ask for another CD. I only have the LP, so I can't say anything about
this one.
Anybody know what this guy has been doing lately? Last time I heard
of him was as a guest player on a CD by swiss band (or austrian?)
'Gandalf'. The last CD from himself must have been 'Time Lapse', a
selction of live cuts.

I saw a list of new recordings somewhere, including an appearently
new CD with SH: 'Guitar Noir'.

Anybody know about this one? Acoustic or electric? Or (dare I be
so optimistic)...record number???
If someone out there has some knowledge about this, PLEASE reply!

| A rack of records selling for a qrter of their normal price, so that
record could be yours for a mere 7 Swiss Francs. I had a look again
today, and it is by Steve (sorry, Stephen) Hackett, it's dated 1993 and
it doesn't look like a compilation.

79.19 | new CD? | COPCLU::SANDGREN | Keep it simple | Mon Apr 03 1995 14:38 | 11 |
| So, it looks like Hackett-time again. On the Internet, I found
information about a new Steve Hackett CD, 'Blues With A Feeling'.
However, further info about this CD, except that it's from 1994,
could not be accessed.
So, has it come out? Anybody heard it?
Thanks for any help,
Poul
