There is a small basement record shop in a side street between
Richard shops and C&A on Oxford st. called 'Tumbleweed records'.
I bought a stones single of 'Brown sugar' and a Led Zeppelin
'Metal' disk of Whole Lotta' Love. Sorry I don't know the street
name but if your sightseeing anyway it might be worth a try.

Bootlegs are often seen for sale at the street markets such as Camden
Lock and Portobello Rd.
Problem here is to check the quality..and I'd *never* buy a bootleg
cassette!

Lot's of fairly good recording can be found at Camden Market/Lock.
You can also get some bootleg video's as well, although the quality
is usually always dodgy on these. As for the audio tapes, it usually
depends on the group. If it's a group who is usually atrocious
when playing live then forget it, but most of them are quite good.
(I bought a New Order tape from there once which sounded awful,
but when I actually saw them live about a month later, they were
awful then as well. No reflection on the group mind, New Order
still remain one of the best bands around today, but I wouldn't
recommend seeing them live.)

Re: .4 `Joy Division were better'
Undoubtedly, but they were a bit before my time.
News for all Joy Divvy Fans, Factory are releasing a double album
of all their old singles, B-sides, etc as they did with New Order's
`Substance'. This one's also called Substance and is due out in
May sometime.

| Warning......
If you're going to buy any bootlegs check out books on the artist
concerned beforehand because they will give you an idea of the
recording quality.
Secondly if it is a record check the pressing quality as some of these
often turn out to be literally unplayable.
