Has anyone heard of a combination ISDN/Analog modem? We are looking at purchasing modems for analog PC's usage but some time in the future, they may get an ISDN line. Also, it could provide backup to the ISDN line, if necessary. We have checked Digi and U.S. Robotics and looked around the net. Has anyone heard of this? thanks, Victoria

There is one, but I can't recommend it. It's the IBM WaveRunner. It is a 28.8 (V.34) modem and an ISDN adapter in a PCMCIA card. I can't recommend it because IBM sold the product line, and apparently never had any real desire to make the thing work with Windows 95. If you were looking solely for a win 3.1 product, or OS/2 (hah!) it might be suitable. Don't get confused with the ISA card of the same name. It is strictly ISDN; but will emulate an analog modem if you want (eg, calling from an ISDN line to a analog modem bank). Tim |
