4687.0. "Strange Problem with AltaVista Private Extension" by GYPSC0::MDRECHSEL () Fri May 23 1997 06:47

Since the installation of AltaVista Private Extension (with
ServicePack), I have a very strange behaviour on my PC.

On every reboot or re-logon (for any user), I get a Explorer
window for every top-level directory and a start of every
top-level-directory program is performed. This ends up in ~50
Explorer windows and some CMD.EXE windows. It seems that
something would double-click each top-level-directory file.

I have absoluteley no clue where to look which part of NT
initiates this. There's nothing special in the "startup" section
of .../profiles/... There's noting in the "runonce" section in
the registry. Noting in the run and load areas.

I even set the startup section to a empty directory; no change.

And, this did not go away after a de-installation of AltaVista PE.
Also a re-installation did not correct the problem.

Any idea? Where do I start looking further?

BTW: I could install AltaVista PE on my home PC without
any problem. Also some other PC's in the office installed
	it -> no problem.

	Thanks for any help!

	Manfred

	PS: I use NT 4.0 (build 1381) ServicePack 3

Please keep it there. That's where it belongs. Go look in the registry
for the setting for Windows Explorer. That's where the information is kept.
